Good afternoon from the Philippines. It's 12:02pm of September 9.
As I've surf the YouTube, I've seen lots of news about the death of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom.
British mourn as well with the lost of their longest reigning queen. She's 96 years old.
Then her passing, her eldest son Prince Charles will be the new King and will be crown on September 9 (UK time). I don't know the exact time. He will choose the name as the same name.
The new King will be King Charles III.
Even if you're not a British, how will you comment for the lost of Queen Elizabeth II as well as the new King Charles III?

It is heartbreaking to realize that she is no longer with us as the famous figure she was. She had a good reign during the numerous decades she served as the monarch, in my opinion, and she undoubtedly influenced many people. She is adored by the locals because of this. Even though their family may have been the target of some controversy, she managed to keep everything under control.

@luisga814 Well, I truly am not a fan of their family, but throughout the reign of the queen, his function as the prince has not received much attention, save for when she was married to Princess Diana. Then, following her passing, he once more avoided the spotlight, only emerging later when he came forth to say that Camila was his new companion. I'm only hoping that as the new leader, he can follow in the footsteps of her mother, but I don't believe it would be easy. Her mother became a queen at a young age, so she has a lot of experience, whilst Charles, in my opinion, is already pretty mature for his current position.

The days when the sun never sets on the British empire are long gone. Its monarchy is anachronistic and has no place in today's world. But as a person, Queen Elizabeth was more accessible to the commoner than previous monarchs, and many will mourn her passing.

@josie_ Yes. I agree with that. She's the one accepted commoners to enter to the Royals.

As an American it comes as a surprise. To think I grew up with the twilight years of Elizabeth II's reign. May she rest in peace.
That said, I now know who will succeed her. I wish King Charles III all the best, because parliment will no doubt age him a bit... Politics is a tough job.
