Amsterdam Police Officer Sergeant Cory Lapati answered the call from a female who owns a 15 year old dog named Frankie who fell into the South Chuctanunda Creek on Saturday evening. Sergent Lapati was able to use a retaining wall to find Frankie who was swimming in a pool of water after Frankie fell down a steep bank after Frankie was walked away from her owner at night. Sergeant Lapati was able to grab Frankie who was in trouble swimming in the creek when he was able to get Frankie by carrying her to a retaining wall and with the help of a leash, he was able to get Frankie over a wall and reunite her with her grateful owner that same evening. I am amazed that a police officer took the time to work a detail at night. I admire anyone who saves the life of an animal or human that needs to be assisted.

The dog is very old who has hearing and sight problems due to her senior age.
