How Do Computer-Programs Know my CPU Cores' Temperatures?

I downloaded a 'CryptoTab Farm' (though I think the idea is to download one of them onto 'each of my devices'---but I've only got one, so it's more like a 'CryptoTab Flower-Pot' 
), & it displays "the temperature of my two CPU cores."
How?
