What’s your knockout sandwich idea?

Since my kids are back to face-to-face class, I’m running out of lunch box ideas. They didn’t say they’re tired of eating the same thing but the leftovers say it all. Sigh. I need something new stat! Then I saw this very cool Tiktoker who makes easy, yummy looking sandwiches. I think I can make them but sandwiches for lunch? Not really a thing here. We grow up thinking sandwiches are snacks. But there’s not really a rule that says so. So maybe I’ll make them? Thinking..
I love sandwiches but ironically I don’t like eating MY sandwiches. Then I saw this photo which actually made sense. Lol

Sandwiches, sometimes with soup, sometimes by themselves, are considered a meal here.
My favorite is ham and cheese on potato bread with some mayo added. Some people also add a slice of tomato and a lettuce leaf or two. (I'd rather not have the tomato and lettuce added, myself. *shrug*)
Once in a while I can talk Pretty into cooking grilled cheese sandwiches for supper. YUM!

@jobelbojel Ham and cheese is what I'm thinking about for supper tonight. Come on over and I'll make one for you, too.

I like eating MY sandwiches more than those prepared by others. I had sandwiches for lunch when I worked and I had no time to sit down to have a meal, because sandwiches for lunch is also not an Italian thing.
One of my favorite is lettuce, mustard and ham, also an omelette sandwich is good and tuna mayo and lettuce. I like more lettuce than tomatoes with tuna.

@sol_cee Italian lunch usually is a first dish based on pasta, risotto, or a soup and a second course based on meat, fish, dairy products such as cheese, or eggs. A frittata can be a second course, or a piece of cheese with brad or a small steak with a green salad.

Sandwiches are not seen as a lunch item there? For us, variety was the key . . . we could not have sandwiches all the time - nor the same kind. My daughter used to like the meat/cheese types . . . my son like peanut butter and jelly or peanut butter and honey. Just not everyday. Seriously, I love most any food that I don't have to prepare myself .

As at your place, we also don't consider sandwiches a meal but snacks here. My wife though keeps sandwiches once a week in the kids' lunchbox. They don't like them but their classmates do. You rightly said people don't like the taste of the things they make themselves.

Rice three times a day! Rice in the morning, lunch and evening. Oh my, we need to reduce rice intake.

@MrDenata We can have it 3x a day but in moderation. I am now trimming fats because I ate too much rice at the early part of pandemic.

I prefer making my own sandwiches and eating them. I love tuna sandwiches because I can make it how I want. I also like grilled cheese. I have not made grilled cheese in a long time but put cheese on bread and eat it in the toaster oven.

If you find other things to pair them with, then it is a suitable meal.

@sol_cee XChips are usually popular, although maybe not for a kid's school lunch. Then again, a small handful is usually suitable. Throw in a juice box or milk and you've got a decent meal. If you can, a few slices of fruit can go well with them, too.

I grew up eating sandwiches when I was young until today.I consider them to be a light meal is more likely. When I don't feel like eating heavy food such as rice then I go for sandwiches. My favorite sandwiches are egg salad, ham and cheese, chicken and meatball sandwiches.
