Most times people would keep in contact when they need and borrows things and money and do not return it back. If you ask them they would start a fight and will avoid you and stop contacting at all. Most times you keep the relationships and friendships because you want them and would stop asking back, but people do take advantage of it. Have you ever been on such situation and what have you done on that situation?

i guess we have that kind of people everywhere in the world....i also have that situation with my friends...well, in my case, i'd rather be the one who give up, because i dont want to lose friends..its ok with me if i lose few things rather than lose friends..

Way back when people I get to meet somehow ask me if I could lend them some money for so and so, I specifically tell them that if they are to borrow money from me, they'd be returning the amount with interest. Being clear from the get-go would definitely leave an impression to them that they really have to pay it back.
Later on, I'd have to ask for collateral when they ask for money which, based on whatever collateral they are willing to offer, often shows their sincerity or intent to pay back.
Then, whenever I meet those people who have asked for money, the first thing that they would think of would be the money they owe me. Quite tedious for them, I can imagine, but if they really want to be of good standing, they'd really have to settle the amount they asked as soon as they possibly can.
Whenever they fail to pay back even the minimum amount, I'd just send them text messages indicating the amount they borrowed, the interest accumulated, the number of days in which their payment has been delayed. I do get to confront them about it and when they really have no intention of paying the money back, it'll just be in my record that so and so isn't a good borrower. If ever I get asked my another person about that so and so person, I'd have the remark that 'this person is alright, but just having difficulty in handling borrowed money.'
However, these days, I no longer lend people money.
