I haven't been in Japan and I really want to go there. I know its a nice place from the TV shows I've watching about Japan. And I'm fascinated with their culture. Could you describe or tell me what are the best places in Japan. So when I come to Japan I'll know where to go.

I live in Kyoto. For tourists, I think that this is a great city. Just don't come in the summer or winter. Summers here are super hot and humid, and winters are absolutely frigid!Autumn is a good time to visit if you want to see the autumn colors. There are a lot of Japanese Maple trees in Kyoto. They are especially beautiful in the north, in Kibune and Kurama, and in the west, in Arashiyama. Spring is a good time to view cherry blossoms, but they only last about a week, if that. Kyoto is full of cherry trees, so it isn't too hard to find them, but some good spots are Arashiyama (again), Kamo-gawa (the main river going through Kyoto), or the Imperial palace in the middle of town.
If you are more into history, there are a lot of historical buildings all over Kyoto. Some of the more famous are Kinkaku-ji (the Golden Pavillion--a Buddhist temple completely covered in gold), Kiyomizu-dera (a temple built on stilts on the side of a mountain), Nijo-jo (the shogun's castle), and the Imperial Palace.
In the center of town, the Shijo area is a good place to go shopping. There are a couple of covered arcades filled with tourist shops, restaurants, and clothing stores. There are also several large department stores. Across the river is the Gion district where you can still see Geisha (called Geiko in Kyoto) or Maiko (Geisha in training) if you are lucky. The shrine at the end of Shijo Street is called Yasaka shrine, and the park behind the shrine is a very good place to see cherry blossoms in the spring.
Kyoto is also a train ride away from Nara, another old city (Nara was the capital of Japan from 710-784, then the capital moved to Kyoto from 784-1868). As another Imperial capital of Japan, there are a lot of historical buildings to see. If you are tired of temples and the like, Osaka is also about an hour away from Kyoto, and Kobe is a little farther than that. Both are bustling metropolitans, so you can find pretty much anything that you would normally find in a city.

Yeah, I would like to go there... But all I know about Japan is being one of most expensive city. I mean gadgets like cellphone, digital camera, clothes, shoes and anime stuff you can buy them a bit cheaper compare in my country. But food, bjds and other stuffs they're very expensive! But it's worth it! ^_^

Tokyo is such a great city, and consider as the most populous city in the world. Osaka is not bad too, I think the second largest city in Japan. If you want a great scenery, I think you may visit Hokkaido, Okinawa, etc.
