The past few days I posted about this one of our beneficiary student passed away. Today one of our office mates did try to visit her wake to send our condolences. After that it seems there are some controversies surrounding her death. It seems like there is some kind of negligence on how her doctor handled the situation. As she arrived in the hospital at 4am since her water broke already. The doctor arrived at around 8am four hours after wating in labor room. She was given relaxant and was left again since the doctor claimed that she has to attend to her patients in her clinic. She returned to the Labor Room at round 2pm and decided to do a CS operation on her and after giving birth she stitched her up and after several hours she decided to open her up again since there was bleeding in her uterus which she decided to remove her entire uterus to stop the bleeding then they proceeded her to ICU since she was already in coma. They observed that her heart was very slow and she never woke up until her demise.
I do not know if there is some kind of negligence in here or what but based from the events it looks like there is something wrong with how they handled her case.

Oh my gosh that is so sad. Did the baby survive? I can’t even imagine how upset her family is. Sometimes people just bleed really bad after having a baby. I bled heavy after my second child and they gave me pitocen to slow it. My cousin hemorrhaged after having her baby from tearing I believe she said.

It has been my experience that hospitals and doctors will not do as much for a poor patient or a patient they believe can't pay for services. My mother often times got bad health care because of her lack of insurance. Even when she had insurance a lot of times the doctors did just enough to get her out of their office.

@Tampa_girl7 But Justice is just so slow in my country and the people they will be facing are the hospital and the doctor which I assume will hire the best lawyers to defend themselves.

@RubyHawk I believe that they were treated poorly just because they hailed from a low-income background. They had no idea that the patient was a practicing attorney. I'm simply incredibly heartbroken by the fact that she won't be able to do anything because her life was abruptly ended. Although giving birth is still potentially fatal, there are fewer cases of maternal and infant deaths as a result of advances in safe delivery techniques. I don't believe that there are any hospitals in the provinces that are still underdeveloped or unprepared for maternity cases.

@RubyHawk That is true, childbirth only happens when there are not enough or adequate medical facilities for childbirth and I think even though the hospital is located in one of our provinces I do not think they do not lack any medical facilities for childbirth. The parents even declared that their daughter went religiously to their monthly OB checkups and even during her labor she was prepared as soon as the water broke she was rushed to the hospital in the hopes she will be assisted to deliver her baby safely. What happened was unexpected when the doctors declared she was eclampsia but all throughout her pregnancy she was not diagnosed as one.

That's devastating. It should be looked into. There may be behind the scene stories that we're not aware of. But she should have been considered an emergency patient - meaning they should have attended to her first, especially since it has been hours since her water broke,

That is true I guess just because they knew she came from a poor community that is why they didn't take her seriously not knowing that she has just passed the bar and is a lawyer already. Now her colleagues at work are helping the family to assist them legally and help them to pursue a case against the doctor and the hospital. I am hoping they would file a case and justice would be given to the family her husband and her baby.

There is certainly no doubt there was negligence but it is of no use to ponder over it unless they have proof.

That really sucks. So who will take care of the baby now? I hope it has another parent or relatives to take care of it though.

That is where the family is thinking since her daughter is a lawyer she has many lawyer friends that would help her in the case. They are a poor family still. She was just starting her career as a new lawyer so she hasn't really gone out of poverty but she is already on her way out and this happened which is very saddening. She is newly wed and this is their first baby.

That's very sad. Hope her lawyer friends can set up a case and find out what happened.

Since she is a lawyer herself, I imagine that many of her lawyer friends are curious about what really happened to her. Although she was aware of the situation beforehand, the way her OB handled her gave the impression that she was not having a difficult time giving birth and that she had not taken any action to address the situation.

What they did to her was negligence. I hope they look into it.
