Do you maintain a Goodreads profile?

If you are a bibliophile then am sure you must be maintaining an active Goodreads profile. So, what's your reading challenge for 2022? are you close enough in completing the same...? I am far behind my set target of completing 25 books this year, I have just complete 10, which is not even 50% Few books are time taking, yet interesting. I love crime fiction, thrillers, memoirs, political drama, court room thrillers, murder mysteries as genres....what about you?

I have a profile on Goodreads. Once in a while I need something from them so will check in with them. Am I constantly on that site? Nope! I don't make reading challenges. I average reading 200 books in a year through the Kindle app on my phone and my Kindle Color. I will read almost anything... the only books I won't read are biographies and autobiographies. I prefer reading fiction and science fiction.

Wondering what does goodreads "offer" for which you would need to check with them at times !!

A definite *NO* to your first sentence! I *must* not do anything of the kind. I read a lot, but I read for pleasure, not to reach any targets I've set for myself or to compete with other readers.

Same here, I read for my own satisfaction and not to accumulate points.

@marlina oh...there's no such point system, which tells me that you have no idea how Goodreads work

The targets are just as per your comfort level & not to compete with anybody....its more like a "wish-list"...how many books do you wish to complete in a calendar year, with no such definitive titles/genres to be specified.

@Rimps85 You don't understand my statement Sometime they make movies about novels .Example 50 shades of grey. Do you prefer to watch the movie or read the book?

reading & watching movies are 2 separate segment...one can't be compared to other...nor can one be done at cost of other, its completely personal choice...

@askme123 that's called screen adaptation of books....which isn't clear from your comment. Again, it depends, when screen adaptations are made they aren't exactly the same. For commercial purpose, they re-write the script which is slightly divergent from the actual novel. If you happen to read a particular novel first and then watch the movie, then probably you won't like it. And then, when you read something, you build the eco-system as per imagination....but when it is picturized it depends on the Director/Producer's point-of-view which may or may not match with your imagination & there goes a mis-match.

mostly if you are in Kindle, it remains automatically embedded...its a site where you can create your "to be read" list, or the ones you have already read...put up reviews & look into reviews before purchasing a book...it will also have purchase links, you can set your yearly reading target also....I believe its part of Amazon only...

All my books-to-read in 2 very tall piles have bookmarks. They're of different genre. I keep promising myself to get back to them...

Well I do have a Goodreads app but I didn't set those goals because I know how flighty I am and I know I would either take longer or wouldn't do it at all. Consistency or routine are definitely not my strong suites. Still, I see it more as a great app to share my reviews when I finish a book... To make a huge to read list, explore different genres and so on. I love it but I do wish I was more consistent and organized with it.

I am a big book worm. I don't know how many books I've read this year but it's a lot. I've got an idea of what I'm going to do for 2023. I'm going to take an exercise book or journal with lined pages, and I'm going to write down every book that I read, when I start reading it and when I finish reading it. Then at the end of the year I'll look back and see how many books I've read and how long it took me to read each one. I like Sci-Fi books, they are my favourite, but I also like reading crime novels and thrillers. I also read some non-fiction. But I am not on Goodreads.
