This post is not about religion as such but describes my state of mind when I wrote it.
Let me play the devil's advocate.
While my mind was idling, I started thinking about scammers and con artists and what areas of our lives they prospect for victims and practice their craft. I made a list that you may or may not agree with.
1. Business and Finance
2. Politics
3. Religion
4. Education
5. Leisure and entertainment
Did I miss something?
If you look at the list, they all are related and intertwine in someways or another.
Given what is happening in those sectors of society today in our world, the human race is DOOMED.
My suggestion?
Make a reservation for the colony of Mars, and...
"Let the devil take the hindmost"

I agree with your list. I remember hearing that when I was young and in school. The teachers would say "an idle mind is the devils workshop"

@Marilynda1225 Although some would say, "Idle hands are the devil's workshop".

@josie_ that's definitely true too. We were always taught that you should be busy and that would keep you out of trouble.

That is a good list.
While you have written this list, I can also say, religiously or spiritually speaking, though you said this is not about religion, we see people go to church but do such stupid things.

There is no area where scammers won't try to make a quick buck by trying to get someone's birthdate, credit card number, and other information they can use to steal your identity or buy something at your expense.
Whether it be by phone, e-mails, or mailed letters these predators look for those "suckers who are born every minute," a phrase often associated with the circus entrepreneur PT Barnum. Seniors particularly are the ones who fall prey to their webs of deceit.

If our mind is idle that means we have too much time in spending our thoughts about different things.
That is when the devil comes in because he finds our mind not busy on doing good or positive things.
Leisure and entertainment mostly creat evil thoughts i think.
