I like the actions of Vienna Georgia Mayor Eddie Daniels mentioned that he had to do his duty to serve and protect the citizens of his town when he risked his life on Saturday morning to save the life of a female driver who trouble getting off of the railroad crossing while a train came toward her auto. Mayor Daniels was on his way to work when he saw the auto stuck on the railroad tracks when he got out of his auto and rushed toward the black SUV to get the mom of the auto before he knew he had to rescue the three children who are of the ages of one, three and six years of age who were in danger of being killed by the train who did make an effort to stop but due to the distance of being close to the auto any chance of avoiding a collision with the auto was impossible. Even though Mayor Daniels was successful at saving the lives of the three children before the train did crash into the auto, the mayor did suffer a broken ankle and an injury to his head that required eight stitches as a result of the train trapping him between the train as the train came to a stop shortly after crashing into the auto. Mayor Daniels insists he is not a hero. He says he just doing God's will by saving lives of the people he serves. There is a saying when an accident happens which is "Material items can be replaced. a life cannot be replaced." since the SUV did get hit hard by the train and most likely damaged beyond control. I am wondering if the auto that was stuck on the train tracks at the railroad crossing was caused by mechanical failure or driver error.

The same goes with me that Mayor Daniels did his job to save the lives of the four persons on the railroad tracks since he could not live with himself had they perished while he was on the sidelines.

That is true since acts of bravery happen when a person is scared.

I agree with you that the mayor acted on courage that saving the lives of the foursome in the SUV was more important than being a bystander and allowing four people to die on his watch.

I often think that railroad crossings should have lights and barriers. But still there are many such accidents. The mayor was a real hero.

According to some sites, the reason many railroad crossings do not have lights and barriers is the city cannot afford to place them in the needed areas.

The mayor did get hit on his legs by the train but based on the story the train probably bumped into his leg as the train came to a stop.

Mayor Daniels did what he believes is right had he witnessed the four persons getting killed in a train wreck, he could not live with himself.
