Letting out stressful thoughts is good at times

I was having stressful thoughts about a few things. I needed to discuss with someone.
However due to one or the other reason, I wasn't able to talk it for months.
Finally I did it the last week.
I cannot share what it is or what was the end result, but sharing those feelings gave me much relief.
I think keeping things bottled up inside is more harmful than sharing those things although doing that could lead to arguments or someone getting annoyed.
What do you think?

I have heard stories ranging from celebrities to average persons that keeping you stressful thoughts to yourself leads to feeling very ill. When you speak to home who does not judge you after the conversation, you feel better.

Yet talking about something that involves the other person can be tricky.
However, we need to do it!

I don't like to be bottled up. So, I just talk about it. My husband is other way round and it has taken a big toll on his health. I have to coax him to talk. He is man of few words. I like to speak out.
I am glad that you did it.

Traditional cultural orientation makes it difficult for us men, especially in India to speak about certain things.
Yet, beyond a certain point one needs to talk.

Well a lot of biases. I have seen some people behaving in certain ways due to such prejudices and yes, it does impacts one's health.

Gradually, awareness is spreading. But perhaps there are still challenges for many.

When it comes to stressful thoughts I let sleeping dogs lie. Yes I let them sleep

Sounds like a good strategy but cannot follow that in every situation.

In this case, it was talking to someone "involved" but I had kept the things to myself for very long and that is not good.

Yet at times, if a problem also involves that other person, why to keep things bottled inside?
But yes, many a times, I follow what you do.

May be you had some tough choices to make or the person to whom you needed to talk wasn't cooperative.
Just guessing.

Oh sorry! My discussion seems to have opened up your windows and memories of sorrow!
I can sympathize with you but I know that not me, not anyone else can understand your feelings.

Yes, sometimes we need to have someone to just talk to us a bit.
Yet that doesn't happens at times.

We sometimes cannot avoid keeping things inside because sometimes we don’t want to hurt the other person. But this leads to us being stressed out over it. I unintentionally do this from time to time and I usually end up thinking about it alot. And how I wish I just said something about it back then.
I think it will be different for others and how serious the issue is. But it is good you were able to let it out already. I hope all is well with you and the person.

I cannot comment about the end result. Certain opinion and perspective differences remain but I feel lighter after taking.

Sometimes it helps to share certain things, as long as the person that you share with cares about you and your feelings. Good to get another perspective, as well. Bottling up everything, as I sometimes inadvertently do, isn't really healthy.

Yes I duly concur with you.
Not talking was causing me a lot of internal disturbance and stress.

When you share your troubles, you feel light. But some people don't just understand that!!!

Hmm.. this is what often prevents one from talking about certain issues.
