PayPal Charges Whoa!

Philippines

Well, you all know what happened to my old PayPal account and since I couldn't recover it properly I created a new one. I got paid for one of my side gigs and all transactions went through PayPal. I got charged a whopping $7.++ which is more than what I get here in Mylot in a month I didn't expect the fees were that high now. I guess you need to pay high for convenience, but I still do not trust them when it comes to securing my money. Do you use any other platforms to receive payments?

I think you were paid a huge amount from you gigs. PayPal only charges a small amount. Though the exchange rate is a little bit lower than the regular exchange rate. Say $1 is PhP58, PayPal rate is only PhP56. I think you received more than $100 to be charged $7 fee.

Yeah, the exchange rate is on the low side. Will there still be local bank charges if I were to withdraw the money? It's been so long since the last time I got paid

Maybe the money you get is taxed because it's above the nominal value, it looks like there is such a provision on PayPal.

@hexeduser22 It could be because you are using a business account.

I didn't reach the taxable amount. It was just their regular fees for paid services and goods

@May2k8 not a business account. The fees would have been cheaper if I was on a business account

Paypal charges are quite high. Have you ever tried Skrill? I don't know much about their charges though

Haven't tried Skrill. My client is not used to remittance services and other non US local bank transactions so it's hard to recommend something I'm also not familiar with. I will still check it and see if it's a better option for me. Thank you

I am not charged fees when I receive the payments from myLot and when I pay for online shopping. I do not know why you have been charged.

I used the PayPal invoice to get paid. My payment was considered as selling my services and not as a Personal transaction, hence the charge

PayPal charges some fees but not that huge. It's a small amount. Though it would be good if it had no charge but a little cut is fine. You must have received some big amount to pay that much for fees.

I often use Payoneer to transfer money for my online teaching. They charge $3.00 flat rate fee for bringing money in. Paypal charges 2% or so of the money coming in, so I have to calculate which is better for the amount of money I need to transfer. Of course there are some platforms that only use Paypal, so I can't choose. But every little bit helps to finish the month.

2% only if you are using PayPal business, but 4.4% +$0.40 if using PayPal personal. How do you request payment through Payoneer?
