I will give credit where credit is due dealing with firefighters answering emergency calls to rescue a boa constrictor who had escaped from his owner's home in High Point North Carolina on Thursday morning. The snake that escaped from the home went up to the roof of a neighbor's home that was vacant at the time of the incident. The High Point Fire Department with the assistance of an animal control officer to work together to climb the ladder to get to the roof to get the boa constrictor back to the ground. The best of this rescue was that the boa constrictor was taken to the Piedmont Animal Rescue. The question is willing the owner of the boa constrictor will be able to reunite with his pet if and when the pet officials contact the owner of the whereabouts of his snake that was rescued by the firefighters and animal control officers.

I personally don't believe in having such snakes as pets, most will grow in excess of 8 feet posing a danger to most people. These snakes are very strong and have no loyalty for human owners.

When Rottweilers are raised right they are the sweetest pups.

@rebelann My late Rottweiler who was a mixed breed dog and female was a very nice dog.

The same with me since snakes are very dangerous animals to have. I would rather have a Rottweiler dog as a pet.

I guess even a snake needs a little help from time to time. I am not sure if the boa constrictor generally cares. He is, after all, a snake. And a snake is a snake no matter the circumstance.

That is what I am wondering why would animal officers would even rescue a snake in the first place.

@porwest Thank you for sharing your work when you had to deal with skunks.

@Deepizzaguy I guess at the end of the day life is life. Even when I was in pest control, I HATED drowning skunks I caught. But there was no practical way to release them without getting sprayed. But skunks, I admit, ARE kinda cute if not entirely stinky.

That is some kind of pet. I wouldn't want one like that.

Neither would I. I like would to have a mixed breed Labrador Retriever or Beagle as a pet.

I am sure the owner will get the snake back if he promises to keep it away from the outdoors.

For cats and dogs we have tags, but I do not know what the rules are for pet owners of exotic pets such as snakes. I remember reading about an incident where there was a fire in a home and a fire fighter got spooked when he came across the snake coiled up in a corner out of its pen. In that case the fire fighters were in danger.

I would be scared as well if I saw a snake coiled up inside of a house fire myself.

I hope the snake owner gets the snake back. Surely he will. But since it wasn’t secured he might not.

If the owner of the snake does reunite with his pet, he or she would likely pay a fee or fine.

@RubyHawk That is very true since animal rescue employees do not like to save animals if their owner does not take of them.

@Deepizzaguy He might have to prove he has a safe place to keep the snake so it won’t get out again.

Get that thing outta here. She's all smiles holding that snake. You never know where a snake will turn up these days.

That is true since snakes are known for being sneaky and attack someone who cuddles them.

A boa constrictor can become a big danger when it gets larger. I wonder if they are planning to return it to the owner?

I am sure that the officials at the animal center will make a courtesy call to the owner of the boa constrictor.

Is boa constrictor not dangerous?
