Life Often Throws Curve Balls

Hello from Rambo. He is my cousin's little Yorkie. He is something else. And pretty much the center of her life. She buys him clothes, especially when the weather starts to get cold. She sent me this photo over the weekend. He was watching the ballgame with her.
Her daughter, who is in her early 50's, has been not feeling well for a few days. Very stubborn and will not go to the doctor. She donated a kidney to her close friend a few years ago. Now is a diabetic as a result.
She was complaining of indigestion and body aches. I thought maybe the flu. She finally drove herself to the ER on Sunday. She was admitted to the cardiac floor. Turns out she had a heart attack prior to her admission. This is why she had the symptoms she described. She failed to tell anyone her left arm was also hurting. They immediately placed two stents in her heart. She also has pneumonia and a fluid build-up around her heart.
They are still running tests to make sure nothing else is going on. Her mother was able to visit her yesterday. Being blind, I can only imagine how she feels when her daughter is going though all of this.
Hoping she will be better soon and can be discharged. We just never know what life has in store for us.

So glad she made it to the ER before something more serious happened. I do have a little empathy for her regarding not doing anything about her symptoms, because often times those symptoms can be the same for 4000 different types of ailments, and 3999 of them end up being harmless or nothing serious.

I am thankful she made it too but also try to encourage her to go due to her serious health issues. She has come very close to losing her foot and leg many times due to her diabetes. She still has a cast on from surgery three weeks ago on her foot. Almost lost it during surgery. She can't afford to not go to the doctor.

@CarolDM It sounds like in her case that she needs to take everything very seriously when it comes to health symptoms.

@moffittjc Exactly Jeff. She cannot take chances. It is unfortunate that this all started from donating her kidney. But she has good doctors.

Yes, we don't know what life is in store for us but we know what is good and what is bad. Therefore let's not abuse our life. Let's go the right path of doing good.

That is unfortunate. Although donating body parts sounds like a very noble thing to do but it should be checked if she is capable of donating it since it can have problems when you voluntarily give it and not check if there will be some problems if they will do it.

@CarolDM I see there was something amiss with how they assessed because they missed that her heart could fail and diabetes suddenly spilled over after her donation. Or maybe she was not told to slow down on some things like eating or exercising since there is only one kidney functioning in her.

Thank you so much. Just talked to her and waiting on more test results. They added another med for her heart. My cousin is also keeping her dog for her. So now she has two dogs to keep up with. You would never know she is blind sometimes.

That is horrible that she had a heart attack. If she would have gone to the doctor could she have avoided the heart attack? It sounds like it was a good idea for her to go to the ER and I hope they take care of her properly. You are so right we never know what is in store for us.

A big surprise for all of us. So glad she made it to the hospital in time for help. We don't know if it could have been avoided but there is a big chance it could have been. Hard to say when it comes to your health. So important to stay on top of it. I talk to her a few times a day. She is trying to rest and let the meds help her now.

My gosh, what a situation. But yes, all clear cut signs of a heart attack. Luckily it was caught in time and hopefully all will be well. I am a bit stubborn about hospitals as well, but there are certain things that are just important not to overlook.

Thank you. Her mother, even though she is blind, does more than many. She is amazing. She cooks and cleans her apartment every single day and takes care of her little dog. My cousin has too many health issues to not pay attention.
