Some lessons we learn the hard way.
And it is never too late to learn.
It is what we do that matters, not what we get from others - that approach ensures we are not disappointed.
Many a hurt we carry as baggage tough to unload.
They tend to replay in our minds however much we try to move on.
In the evening of my life, I tend to think of the blessings that far outweigh the hurts and let-downs. Did I do my part or expect others to carry my load too? Overall, I did whatever I could and that gives me fulfillment.
Hurts are wished away with a take that I am not responsible for them. They are part and parcel of life and they make the sweet moments sweeter.
Life is a journey and that means we need to expect the unexpected. We have the best of humans side by side with the worst of evil too,
We are placed here for a moment in time and soon are history like those before us. We pass on the baton after we complete our lives here; that is what is meant to be, and that applies to other species too.

Yes I have read about life and the journey of soul in spiritual books. The soul's ultimate aim is to attain Moksha or universal emancipation. That means the soul is free from all karma baggage so it does not have to take birth again...

Some people do a lot of things to try and attain Moksha or the ultimate salvation.
However, I believe that instead of trying to do too many things, one can simply follow rules like Honesty, respect for others, right conduct to lead a good life.
Such things would by themselves lead us to Moksha or at least bring us closer to that.
Yet it never happens if we don't follow the path of Good Deeds, at least this is what I believe!

@Dreamerby The common folks have different priorities in life as they live in a real world of challenges, duties, and responsibilities. The yogis have renounced family life and hence their path is different.
We are more aligned to the right path when we listen to our inner voice rather than act on a whim for personal gain.

@ifa225 "If you say that someone is made of sterner stuff, you mean that they have a strong personality and are capable of overcoming difficulties and problems."
When we are able to overcome challenges, we get renewed confidence in our ability that lie hidden otherwise.
I look back on my own life and realize I can rise to the occasion when needed to meet and overcome challenges.

Yes, then you are on a good wicket.
It is said, "Change is the only constant" and we should go with the flow and adapt.
It cuts both ways to be born rich - born with a silver spoon in your mouth.
You can go up or hold steady, but take care not to become complacent.
I recall Gautam Gambhir saying he was known as the son of a rich person when he was young but wanted his father to be known as the father of a famous son! I think he succeeded.

@Shivram59 Wish you all the best.
I am sorry your family suffered due to the deaths of your brothers while they were still young.
Working for others has limitations.

Lessons that we learn from our life will make or unmake us. Thus we learn from our mistakes and do what is proper or right.

@Shiva49 That's how you look at it. Me too. But some have their own point of view.

DepositPhotos! That is a new site for me to explore !
Wish you a very Happy Diwali festival and time!
In fact, there are some things which have been bothering me for months. I have been trying to get away from a lot of things and not let the thoughts bother too much.
However wishing away everything is not easy.
Deep down, guilt for a few things weigh heavily on us sometimes.
Still I hope to figure out things somehow.
Also the Geo political situation, high inflation and news all around, including the worsening Ukraine - Russia war; all these seem to have a negative effect on our minds.

Looks like so many weapons have been made across the Globe that their makers would try to cause some conflict or the other.
Otherwise also, humans should stop and see where we all are going and not creating or using too many things which can cause different divisions.

Happy Diwali to you too. It was made even sweeter due to the thrilling match snatching victory from the jaws of defeat.
Yes, we cannot close our eyes and live oblivious to reality.
Wars are always a threat right from time immemorial.
I think the main reason is we are sowing what we reap - making weapons of mass destruction for profit.
Whatever the political system, we are under the thumb of a few and India has more enemies within than without.
I stuck to certain ideals both in my working and personal life.
I did whatever I could for the common benefit and without hidden selfish motives.
I shared my knowledge without reservation and the reward was priceless.
And I went for balance so that I live without regret.
Of course, our families too should see merit in such a path - contentment and peace but doing the best we can for society.

You are so right about this Shiva. We have but a moment on this earth and should make the most of what we got.

@Shiva49 Hard as it is sometimes to do so, we simply must.

Lots of things are happening around us and we are helpless to make an impact.
Gandhi said "Be the change you wish to see in the world.", but our reach is rather limited.
We tend to lament that we are mere observers of blatant injustice.
For my peace of mind, I relied on doing what I could and not worrying about the results.
I keep in mind I too will be history as we are on total recall.
I thought of sharing this simple ideology.

There is more than one way to skin a cat. There is usually more solutions to a problem than only one.
So it is with life lessons too.
We can learn multiple lessons in the one lesson, or we can also learn one themed learning across connected life lessons too.
What we do learn helps us to take the next step, and to be better prepared to take it then too.

@Shiva49 Yes, better to rise to the occasion, than to let ourselves be deflated by some experience instead.
A lesson of some type can be gained from both good, and from bad, experiences.

Yes, they follow a pattern.
We start with believing others but soon come to know not all are alike as there are wolves in sheep's clothing out looking for easy prey.
However, we should rise to the occasion too to help those in need. Experience helps better judgment.

If we hold too tightly to past hurts, we can’t fully grasp the joy that comes along to be enjoyed.
