I might be on stage, or at least my wedding gown might be

When we first came to Treeby, I priced getting my wedding dress dry-cleaned but the cost was prohibitive as, after 51 years, it needed some restoration as well as cleaning. I tried to find a home for it and eventually, came up with the idea that a theatre group might like to add it to their wardrobe. I was given the name of several theatre groups and one has replied, saying they’ll shortly be performing a play which calls for just such a dress so we’ll be dropping the gown at their theatre on Tuesday. While it’s a bit sad, it’s nice to think it might be appearing on stage. I wonder if they might give us free tickets to the play. That would be nice. I’ve put up the photo before but here it comes again! It's okay to comment on the sideburns again.

What's wrong with Vince's sideburns?

@JudyEv You're asking a man if sideburns "dates" another man? I see... You haven't been around many men, have you?

Thanks. It's a pity in a way that you only get to wear it once.

The sideburns seem well-behaved, but that nose! I'm assuming he eventually grew into it...

@JudyEv I did not notice the nose. I was transfixed by the sideburns. And your pretty face, Judy. But now that I've examined said nose thoroughly, it would do Sherlock Holmes proud.

It's a good silhouette of the nose, isn't it?

@JudyEv That was a great era for music. When did Neil Young get his gnarly sideburns. Could Vince have influenced him?

I couldn't throw it in the bin and I couldn't donate it when it hadn't been cleaned. This is a good solution I think.

Its a beautiful classic gown, it suits you perfectly. You made a very good looking couple. I noticed the side burns, long, but it must have been the 70's as I believe that men wore them that way back then.

@JudyEv Your dress is very pretty. My dress is the dress and the fur-trimmed hood, because it was very cold when I got married. I was looking yesterday evening and the pretty daughter of my neighbors. She is tiny and not tall, she is now 18 years old and she has a boyfriend. I am going to show my dress to my neighbor.

I thought I'd find a home for it rather than leave it for others to decide what to do with it when we're gone. I remember you had a lovely fur-trimmed hood.

@1creekgirl A friend and I co-wrote three plays which were performed in Donnybrook. Vin and I both had parts in the chorus in a couple of musicals before we were married and Vince has performed a couple of my monologues on stage. That's about the extent of our stage careers.

I have MOST of my wedding dress here. When my daughter got married we took the sleeves from mine and put on her dress. My mom had done Irish Crochet sleeves for my ensemble. The motifs were roses with pearls in the center of each. I believe I got the idea from some wedding magazine. I know some places here in the states women donate wedding gowns to be made into baby dresses for infants who were premature or still birth to be buried in.

I crocheted sleeves for a blouse once out of Irish crochet motifs - with roses but without pearls. There was still some good material in this dress but I couldn't seem to find anyone who wanted to make use of it.

There wasn't much point in donating it a charity shop as it needs to be dry-cleaned but would cost $A250 so they would just toss it in the bin.
