I reconnected with my high school friends thru our GC or group chat and a serious topic came up because one classmate said he has no plans of tying the knot. And that the woman he is currently living in can’t be called his wife because they’re not married. You see in my country, married or not, if you’re living together, people refer to your partner as your ‘husband’ or ‘wife’. But him saying that caused some female classmates to cry foul at how insensitive his words were. Others asked why he couldn’t offer marriage to the mother of his kids. He plainly said marriage is a trap. Then I saw this photo.

I use the mouse traps to catch mice, yes... And I've been trapped twice but escaped both times... not without cost, though.
And yes, some women do trap a guy who really doesn't want to get married.
My state doesn't recognize "common law husband and wife" no matter how long you live together.

I was almost trapped. No more further details.
If the guy wants to marry her he could have done it many years ago.
I think it is no a trap if they loved each other and they are both complete.

The question was... why did it take you so long to marry your sweet and beautiful wife?

I do know people who would say the same - about marriage being a trap. True for some, but not all. I don't know how the relationship of this couple is, but if he has kids with her and they live together, well that's kinda sad he says that. But I don't know them.
We almost had to use a mouse trap like 2 years ago for the garage. Instead we were able to find where the mice were coming in and closed the holes up - they never came back in. I wouldn't want to find a mouse in a trap .

For the sake of the children one should get married.

@sol_cee She was never pro marriage and she is right. There are so many advantages not being married, first of all you pay less taxes, because the earnings of a married couples are "combined". My husband and I would have loved to live together without getting married, but in the 1970 couples had to get married to live together.

My relatives and myself used a mouse trap when we lived in a section of Lake Charles that had a small population of mice who would meet their end at the hands of my cat Burt who would go outside for a walk and when he would come back to get inside the house, he would have a mouse in his mouth.
Now that we live away from the river that was near a water plant, no mice in our neighborhood.

@sol_cee Burt is likely inside the home since he is the only cat that like to take a walk outside during the day and night.

I don't appreciate live in relationships and children out of them for in India such children are not accepted as legal heirs.

@sol_cee Yes, as live in relationship has been legalized by the Indian court but the progeny won't get their legal rights from their parents.

In our country when partners live together for a period of three months they are legally a husband and a wife.

If he doesn't want to tie the knot he doesn't have to. But, he could if he wants. It's funny. My husband and I would call each other husband/wife, before we married. And, we still do now that we are, obviously. I see no harm in it.

In Canada, if you live with your partner for a year or more as a couple you are considered living common law and have most of the legal protections of married couples.
