It’s funny how a comment can send my brain into thinking things. In this case, JJ said that he was elated that the “Something to Believe In” I used in a recent countdown was NOT the song by that name by the 80s hair band Poison. As a result, I give you ten songs that are NOT the song by that name by the 80s hair band Poison. Let’s get to singing! #10: Last Song - Edward Bear The things you learn in researching a countdown. There was no one named “Edward Bear” in the band Edward Bear (a Canadian trio). They took that name from Winnie the Pooh: “Edward Bear” is Winnie’s “real” name! Edward Bear was your typical early 70s band: long hair, introspective lyrics, and a mellow sound. They didn’t last too long, and this was their biggest US hit, reaching #3 on the Billboard chart. Picky Wedia describes the Poison song “The Last Song” as a “power ballad.” The only power ballad I care for is “Only Women Bleed” by Alice Cooper, so if you say “Last Song” to me, this is the one I’ll think of. Last Song Written by Larry Evoy Recorded by Edward Bear From Edward Bear, 1972 Always knew the time would come:

I always thought their biggest hit was You, Me and Mexico. Members were: Roger Ellis, Danny Marks, Bob Kendall, Paul Weldon, Larry Evoy. Danny Marks has a radio program on Jazz.FM91 (CJRT-FM) where he plays old blues records and a bunch of his own recordings. Saturday Nights Blues, nine to midnight.

@FourWalls It's too sappy to be a number one hit. What were you Americans thinking?

Understand that the song is NOT Poison. It shares the same name as a Poison song.

Yep, it’s one of those “glad I listen to the 70s station every now and then” songs!

I know this song but it doesn't sound familiar. Was it done by someone else that I am familiar with?

Not that I ever heard. I can’t find a charted cover. “Edward Bear” isn’t one of those bands everybody remembers.
