I wear glasses if I want to see far. So far all of my glasses have been frameless and Silhouette brand. Yesterday, I finally got new glasses. This time with frames. And I switched to another brand. It's Thierry Lasry. Frames are made in France and many celebrities wear this brand. I tried on many different glasses and brands before I finally settled on a pair. Took an eye exam while there to see if my eyesight changed. My old glasses were -2 and it turned out to be the same when my I did the exam. I got transition lenses so when it's sunny out they will get darker. Total came out to over $1000, which had to be paid on the spot. That's expensive. Didn't expect it to be that much. When I go to pick up the glasses they will give me a reimbursement form to send in to my husband's insurance to get money back. Of course, it will not be for the full amount but hopefully it will not be very little. I will also get a reimbursement form to get money back for the eye exam. Again not sure if in full. My mom said she is gifting me the glasses. That is very nice of her. I will just have to give her the reimbursement money I get for the glasses. Found a pic of the glasses on the brand's website. Not sure if these are the exact pair though.

They look very fashionable! That's a nice gift from your mom. I just ordered some reading glasses. I see far better than I see near.

Can't wait to find out exactly what my pair looks like. There is another style on the website that is similar. It could be those instead of these.

@lovebuglena I probably would not notice the difference.

@TheHorse I wish I had taken a pic of them in the store. But they should be ready in about 10 days, so I was told. Unless something changes. They will let me know once they are ready to be picked up.

Now you've reminded me that I need to get my yearly eye check done.

@TheHorse Doesn't seem like it because my old glasses were -2 and when I did the test yesterday I was told -2 as well.

I am finally getting around to that age where my eyesight is naturally diminishing....not going blind or anything, but necessary to use reading glasses whenever I'm on the computer or reading a book. I technically still have 20/20 vision, and can see/read without my glasses, but it's just easier and simpler to use the reading glasses.

@lovebuglena I know it's not good to strain my eyes, which is why I always use my reading glasses when I am on the computer, or my phone, or reading a book or magazine. I don't want my eyesight diminishing even faster than it already is naturally.

@moffittjc I do something bad. I sometimes read and then it gets darker in the room but I do not turn the lights on. I can still see what I am reading but it can't be good on my eyes to do that.

Not good if you have to strain your eyes though. I am glad I only need glasses if I need to see far and I want to see the details of something. Otherwise I am fine without glasses.

The frames look really nice. I have transition glasses and find them useful.

No wonder why your eye glasses are too expensive (it is equivalent to 50,000 pesos in our currency) for celebrities are wearing them. Are you one of the celebrities?

I am no celebrity. I’d never get these glasses myself. Can’t afford to spend that much.

@Nakitakona Well, my lenses are transition lenses and they were specially done so they become brown and not gray when they darken, which is more expensive. And there was also a something done to them so they don't scratch or something like that. But still, that is a lot of money.

The insurance won't pay for the expensive frames. My insurance would only give me $50 for frames when I got new glasses last year. But they gave me a total reimbursement for the eye exam. In December it will be time for another eye exam.

@lovebuglena I guess your mom will be paying most of that.

Thank you. Very generous of her to pay for the glasses. She got herself glasses recently. They came out cheaper than mine.

They are very nice. That was very generous of your mom. I think my glasses were $140 after insurance; but they didn't cost $1,000.

It came out slightly over $1000. I was just trying on different glasses. My mom was with me. Neither I nor she ever asked how much they were. I just picked a pair and she paid for it. Didn't expect it to be that much. And it was weird, the guy at the store didn't ask what our price range was. He just kept showing us different brands and styles that he thought were good for my face.
