Money issues and love. Yet another side of it.

Many years ago ( exactly 13 years ago as it was when I joined mylot) I started my chemotherapy. After a couple of chemos, my defences were so low that the oncologist told me that she could not continue it if I did not have some very expensive shots before each chemo. Each shot, I remember, was 1/3 of my monthly retirement money. Dixie always called me after each chemo to ask me how I felt. I was very angry with all this so I told her. I had the money, but it was not money that I could spare easily. And the insurance would not pay for them. Dixie and I finished our conversation but in a few minutes she called me back. She said that Humberto, her husband had already transfered the money for the first shot and not to worry. I started crying. Friends, I had the money. And I could also ask my daughters to help me out should I need it. Or I could ask my mother as she had a very good pension from the government. I never expected Dixie or Humberto to do that. That, friends, is not only money. That is love. They have always been near me when I have needed them. And I try to do the same. But I would have to live 2 lives to repay all they have done for me. When I tell Humberto that Dixie is an angel, he tells me the I don´t know about "the Dark side of the Force". But after so many years, I do know about the good and the bad of my friends just as they know me. And we both accept the "dark side" of each of us. But love is about so many things. It is about respecting. And helping with what you can when needed. I remember years ago, when Andrés (their son) was living in Ecuador called me because he wanted to come to Chile for some months with his dog. Would I have him? We made a fence (the same fence that Luna has now) and he came to live with me for some months. Love is about so many things. The more I think about it, the more meanings I find.
