Unpleasant surprise on last night's Khon2 news, Golden Place Seafood Restaurant, closing on October 31. You couldn't miss the red pillars embraced by golden dragons, on 111 North King Street, Chinatown. Owner is retiring and wants family time.
Howard Lam began Golden Place Seafood Restaurant. "My father was the first in our family to come to the U.S. back in the 1970s, and he built up everything from practically nothing,” says general manager Gary Lam, older son of Howard Lam. Still completely family-run and managed, the venerable Chinatown restaurant employs Howard, his wife, two sons, and daughter-in-law, with aunties, uncles and cousins who help out during holidays and peak times."

Many will miss, Golden Place Seafood Restaurant a favorite of island families for over 20 years.

That is too bad that this restaurant is closing. We had one close here a few years ago close for the same reasons. They need family time after so many years of service. I hope they have some nice family occasions to come.

That is too bad that such a favorite restaurant is closing. But it is worse there that the local Walgreens with all kinds of goods, over-the-counter medicines, and food closed for an unforeseen time with just a note on the door and now the only access to anything they had must be ordered online.

That's sad. Two Walgreens closed on Oahu, with news report. Beretania Street Walgreens closed and Hotel Street Walgreens, closed before it.
