Is it OK to use cottage cheese to make a pizza?

cottage cheese

Today I made the cottage cheese and suprisingly it was so easy. The result is also very successful. It can't be stored for a very long time since I didn't add any extra chemical things to make it last for a longer time. Then I had an idea to use the cottage cheese to make a pizza. It seems I haven't seen this kind of pizza before but I'd like to have a try. I think it also tastes well. I am pleased to its looks, too I used to make a pizza with Mozzarella cheese but now it is easier for me to use cottage cheese because I can make the cheese by myself rather than buying it.

I have never used cottage cheese on pizza, but in lasagna it tastes wonderful! This is quite similar, of course:)

@kobesbuddy yes cottage cheese or ricotta is used in a recipe for lasagna that I have made for years. I usually buy what is on sale.

If you like it why not? It's not a pizza, it's a cottage cheese pie!

@youless Pizza is a D.O.P. (Denominazione di Origine Protetta ""protected name of origin." It applies to a specific preparation, all the "variations" are NOT pizze, but pies.

@kobesbuddy It is very smoothy and it is not melting. As I use the mixer to stir it.

I have never tasted that. I use any cheese that melts though. But I would not use Camembert of Brie either.

@sol_cee That's really quite easy to make the cottage cheese, all you need is the milk, vinegar and a little bit salt

@LadyDuck I agree it is more common to make sweeet and sour pork rather than sweet and sour chicken

I already commented and gave my opinion. I should ask her if it's okay to prepare "sweet and sour pork" using chicken and without the "sweet". It's okay if you like, it's no more the Chinese dish.

@youless That is great that you can make your own cottage cheese. So, is the pizza better with cottage cheese than with mozzarella cheese?

It is not the same. Mozzarella cheese has a stronger cheese flavor.

In India cottage cheese is a substitute for vegetables but not mozzarella. I personally don’t fancy cottage cheese. But in few dishes that we make cottage cheese tastes really good. I do not like cottage cheese on my pizza but I hope you enjoyed yours. :)

What does "Is it OK . . ." mean? Who cares how you make your pizza? The main thing is that *you* like it. Pizza was born in the city of Naples, Italy. As long a you don't claim that your pizza is the typical Italian pizza, nobody will complain.
In December 2009, the pizza Napoletana was granted Traditional Speciality Guaranteed status by the European Union. The pizzerias making the traditional pizzas...
