I am speechless.

As you know, nearly a month ago, Hurricane Ian came through and flooded Florida. I had been told the beachside got hit pretty bad, but I didn't know how bad until today.
George and I had planned to pop our head into one of the hotels we used to stay at, over the summer. From there, we could see that part of the Tiki bar was gone, and there was a ditch where it used to be. The ocean is coming up to the seawall, and it's like 'what beach?' The hotel itself, and the bar both survived. but, it was a surprise to see. However, driving on the streets, you would never know anything happened. Unless you knew where to look. I feel like someone had to be watching over us, because all that happened is we lost power. Whereas the house down the street, needed a new roof.

@CarolDM Oh yeah. I guess you either live there now, or lived there during Katrina.

@kaylachan I have seen a lot of devastation over the years. Especially living in New Orleans.

That is very interesting. I had no idea about that. We did not get flooded, nor did we lose power. Also, as I said, that high Hilton is in front of the beach, so unless I went there I could not tell what it was like,

Yeah. I noticed the inland side of beachside looked untouched. Those tall buildings shielded a lot. But, if you make your way to Hampton by Hilton oceanfront, then you can see the damage by going to the tiki bar. That's what we did.

I had always heard horror stories, but never saw such damage. But, until recently never went to beachside. so it's shocking. But that's what storms do.

@porwest Nothing happens overnight. However, we're always working hard to help ensure that things go smoothly.

@kaylachan Amazingly true. I have been to many places in Florida post hurricane and you guys certainly have a knack for putting things back together. Still takes time. Mexico Beach, the last time we were there, was still struggling to get things back. But they were making good progress.

Great was the destruction left by Super Typhoon Odette in our small city last 17th of December 2021. I won't forget it.
