Our vacay last week

We planned for a long weekend stay at Tagaytay city a short trip from our place. The place is cool since they are located higher elevation. The place is a favorite place mostly by people in Manila since they are just a few kilometers away from the city. The problem with our trip was that a typhoon was just about to hit us. So we travelled there inheavy rains and realized that the typhoon will slightly hit the place and was already declared as signal #3 already. We have no choice but to stay inside our booked place and let the storm pass us. By 9pm the power were cutoff but was immediately restored by 2am. I thought the power would not be restored soon because the winds were just howling bad but then by 2am the rains subsided and the winds settled a bit that is why they restored the power. The next day rains subsided though it was still very gloomy. We proceeded to roam around and enjoy the place. Many are still close because most of the restaurants were either has no power or just cleaning their place. We stayed for another day and the following day we finally were able to explore the place much better with many of the stores and spots opened already. By afternoon we started to go back home slowly. The trip was a bit disappointing but we enjoyed the place despite the incident.

@Dreamerby It was also for me after the countless lockdowns and restrictions in travel. We are able to come out and travel freely again.

Yes some of the plans were not able to truly explore the place since typhoons pass through it. But then good thing power was restored immediately and most businesses needed one day to fully recover from the storm.

@jobelbojel Yes, the storm track was northwards so the rains were extended in your place since it exited somewhere in your area.

That’s a shame, but I’m glad you made the best of the situation. You were lucky the power was returned and the worst of the storm blew away.

That is true, but we made the most of the final day of our holiday before returning home. This New Year, we did it once more, and this time we took advantage of the good weather to relax and have fun as we should have.

@DianneN Yes, it was only for a short while, and we were able to unwind far from the pressures of city life. Moving around and taking in the new location, where nature is more obvious than urban jungle, was enjoyable.

Yes maybe next time. It wasn't a perfect vacation but then the sun shone on us for a bit and the scenery was spectacular so it wasn't bad after all.

October, November and December seems to be a typhoon usually visited the Philippines. Imagine the country is hit by typhoon 20 or more times.

I came from a province that is usually hit by typhoons yearly. There is no year where our province would not be hit at least once a year.

It's nice when the volcano isn't active but dangerous when it is erupting. The place is located high in elevation that is why it is cool place to be.

I think the nearby towns in Cavite were badly hit as somewhere is flooded. But it looks like Tagaytay was not badly hit as when we traveled around the next day there was no damage around and electricity was restored 4 hours after.

@cacay1 Yes despite the typhoon did not really pass thru there the outer layers of the typhoon did reached their place which inundated them with heavy rains.

@FayeHazel Yeah in our place it was just very recently that the restriction on traveling was lifted that is why the first time we saw the opportunity we tried to take advantage of booking to some places outside of the place.

@CarolDM True there is calm before the storm and after as well. If not for the broken branches and leaves that are scattered around you would not think there was a storm that passed by the place.

Well not the perfect vacation but we were able to enjoy the place after the storm and saw the Taal Volcano too (the picture above) which is the main attraction in that place. We were expecting that it may be covered with clouds but it did show after sometime so I was a bit happy about the outcome.

That's true, but the place got lucky when the typhoon slightly went northwards so the typhoon did not directly hit the place. That is why the nearby towns around my place reported heavy rains and flooding but the place were at did not have floods.

One day was a bit of a dumper since we just stayed indoors because of the storm. The next day was ok, foggy, cold, and not sunny so we were able to roam around the place and enjoy it somehow. Traffic was not that bad since I think there were fewer people still out the next day.

Well it does although the wind howling outside makes you feel a bit tensed since were in a strange place and we do not know what will happen anytime soon. But the place was literally safe and unharmed after the typhoon.

Yes me too I seldom go to this place even if they are very near us. The weather was already clear when I took that picture and you cannot see any clue that a typhoon just passed by it.
