The paintbrush plant

This plant was given to me a few years ago by my partner’s grandmother. She died back in 2019 but I still have the plant to remind me of her.
It’s called a paintbrush plant (Haemanthus albiflos) and originates from South Africa. Since it’s still on ‘South Africa time’ that means it flowers now, in late autumn.
It seems to be a very easy plant to grow indoors, not needing anything in the way of special care. In fact it has done rather well because it grew into quite a big clump which I split into three or four. It likes to be quite cosy in its pot and only wants water now and again.
The flowers are very distinctive and the common name is exactly what comes to mind the first time you see it.
I guess it could be grown outside here in summer. In fact I might consider propagating it and using it in the garden in summer if we are to have more dry years like this one!
Does anyone else grow this plant?

I wonder how well the blossoms work as paintbrushes... are they used freshly picked or do they have to dry out first.
