Our plastic table has left the premises

I put this plastic table on a local Buy Nothing site and we delivered it this morning. It’s been very useful over the years but we have two more solid trestles now and we don’t really have room for stuff that isn’t going to get used. It is a bit worn but, as a handicraft table for kids or a potting table in a garden, it could have a useful second life. There wasn’t much interest in it and the one lady who wanted it didn’t think it would fit in her car, even with the legs removed, so we delivered it this morning. We didn't have to take it far. Now I’m looking for more things to gift to empty out a few cupboards.

You gave away a ton of stuff when you were moving, too. Pretty and I gave away all kinds of stuff before we moved and then had to weed out more stuff when we couldn't use it in this house... Our garage is getting full again of stuff that we should pass on to someone that will use it... It's a never-ending battle.

You're right about the never-ending battle although we try to be more circumspect when it comes to accumulating stuff.

We went through our shoes yesterday. I finally decided to get rid of all those I know I will never wear again. We later went to the donation bin and I deposited 14 boxes with shoes in very good conditions. I am sure that some women will love them.

@JudyEv We do not go to formal parties anymore, those very high heel shoes is not something I going to wear again. Soon also some dresses will go.

It can be hard to get rid of things that are like new but if you're never going to wear them again, there isn't much point in keeping them.

@LadyDuck I wore low heels on Saturday and was very pleased that they weren't any higher.

@JudyEv I'd love to sneak along with you on your adventures. I really am looking for an outdoors, tough table. When its warmer and nice out, I want to have a tea out in the yard. Its a lot of work, packing delicate china, but I like to have a tea outside.

I could find plenty of ways to use the table! Especially as a craft table-and I'm not even a kid!

I remember you posted a picture of Herc near that table outside at your old place. It was my favorite picture of him. I am sure that the table will be well used at its new home.

That was so nice of you to deliver the table and I'm sure the lady will enjoy having it. Those Buy Nothing sites come in handy and someone is always looking for something. Certainly a good way to get rid of stuff that is still good

@JudyEv we have a buy nothing site on FB for our township. The other day someone offered a half package of beef jerky (her son didn't like it) and people wanted it. I would be very skeptical taking a half eaten package of anything from someone unless I knew them

@Marilynda1225 Me too. You don't see food much on our site unless it's fresh vegies from someone's garden.

We have one exactly like that as well. I don't really need it at the moment but I got it from Freegle when we had an 'open garden' event and I've been hanging on to it since just in case we have another.

@Fleura We found the houses in Ireland and England very cramped compared to the room we have here. Most rooms were much smaller than we were used to.

In Donnybrook, we had so much more storage room and most things got used from time to time but space is more precious here.

Well, the lady could have carried it on the roof of the car by fastening it, at least that is mostly the case that happens in our country as people avoid extra delivery charges. Never knew those prop like detachable tables are called trestle tables. It was quite popular here back in the '90 s and were ubiquitous at small parties, but somehow went out of fashion and the furniture makers have' t yet came up with a redesigned look for this.

I think people always have a use for something like that. One one of the selling groups here, you have the option to list things for free, and one of them is just designed for free things. I let someone pick up the aquarium for free, because I didn't want to transport it anywhere.

@JudyEv Every nearby town and community has their own group of selling sites, or freebie sites. I got some small to medium named brand plastic totes for free. I was just wondering why the people didn't want them...Things like that are always useful for storage. Of course it was an adventure finding their house, they lived on one of those roads that seem to go on forever.

The Buy Nothing group mostly seems to have kids' stuff on it but often there is some really good items being given up. There is another separate site that has things for sale. Both these are designed just for the nearby suburbs. Other areas have their own but similar sites.

That’s what I do when I can’t find a useful place for something. I first check with the neighbors to see if anyone needs it, then it goes to the charity stores.
