Have you ever seen a starfish?

Because it’s his birthday week, my brother invited my family to go to this famous island beach. Unfortunately I wasn’t feeling okay and I declined the offer. However my teen kids wanted to go and they assured me they’d be careful and they wouldn’t swim very far and that they wouldn’t cause headache to the grownups present. Our family gc was soooo busy with my mom and siblings and nephews convincing me to let my kids come so finally I said yes. Husband dropped them off to my brother’s house and off they went. And me? Well, I was worried like hell. I was overthinking a lot of things and it didn’t do me good. I kept on texting them and when they couldn’t text me back I went crazy. Lol Please don’t judge. I know it’s not good but what can I do? I’m a parent. Photo is of the starfish in the island.

You were just responding to how most parents on the planet would. We worry whenever our children venture out somewhere without us there to protect or watch after them. Both of my kids are grown, but I still worry like crazy whenever they travel or do something that has a level of risk.

@sol_cee I’m doing okay I guess. I’ve just been super busy lately, and it’s left me feeling exhausted. I had planned on having a free schedule this week to catch up on sleep, but now it looks like we have another hurricane coming our way, so I’ll be stuck working long hours in preparation for the storm.

@moffittjc oh no. I hope it would not pass by your place again like the last time there was a hurricane there

I guess you are like my wife who worries a lot about leaving their children alone on their own. With the current situation that we are still technically under the pandemic and the virus is still lurking around it is a bit worrying to let our children roam free unlike before. I saw that starfish in Coron many years ago when we were able to travel to places before. I thought it was soft but it is really hard and you could injure yourself if you step on that.

@sol_cee Yeah I guess 2018 or so. I forgot when it was but it was a company outing trip so we were many. I first saw that one and I thought it was soft but it was hard and its bottom is the one that is soft. They say not to touch it because they may be stressed but out of curiosity, I touched it.

I may have come across a starfish while beachcombing. I used to do that often. Natural for a parent to worry.

Oh gosh I’m a worrier like that too when my kids are away. Always have been and there isn’t any stopping it. I’m glad they went though and had fun and am sorry you felt to sick to go . I have never seen a star fish in person and after seeing the ones in this photo I never want to . They look so gross.

I've never seen a starfish. Parents have to let go a little at time. You can't do it in a day.

I don't think I've ever seen a starfish (live) outside of a public aquarium. If I go to the beach it is usually on a small lake not too far from here. The nearest beach on the ocean isn't very far away but they keep shutting it down because of unacceptably high bacteria counts. I don't feel like driving all the way there just to find out I can't go into the water.

@sol_cee There's nothing negative to judge there. As you said, you're a parent and that's what good parents are like. They worry about their children. I love the photo! So cool! I have seen starfish before. I remember holding one when I was in primary school. It felt weird. A Happy New Year to you and your family!

Beautiful picture. I think the bond of parent and child is very thick so can't be judged. Still you need to take it little easy and take care of your health. I havent seen it till now. I wish to see as it's beautiful. Take care

Yes, me and my husband saw a starfish at Botany Bay beach in UK. It looks different to the starfish in the picture.
