In our lifestyle village, we live about ten doors from our very good friends. The husband turns 75 tomorrow but had a party in the clubhouse two days ago. It was a buffet lunch so we helped them set up in the morning, rearranging tables and chairs, and putting out glasses, etc.
After lunch, the guests sat around talking with a few leaving in dribs and dribs until most left at about 4pm. Around a dozen then had leftovers for dinner and by 7pm there was just six of us left. We did most of the cleaning up then in the lounge area and enjoyed each other’s company till about 11pm. So it was rather a long day albeit very enjoyable. I probably don’t need to add that we slept in next morning.
That’s me on the left with a mother (another Judy) and daughter. The daughter has battled a number of ailments all her life but holds down a very responsible position. I admire them both.

@JudyEv I know how planing anything can be, I've done my fair share. As much work as it had to have been, I can still hope you found time to enjoy it, too.

@kaylachan It was very enjoyable and even cleaning up can be quite fun when you are sharing it all with others.

Sounds like a good time. The last get together we had was when my baby sister was up for a visit from North Carolina.

@JudyEv Yes, it was. Morley Hunt was there as well. They are both doing well. Just not active here.

@JudyEv Yes, I've noticed that. I wondered if he just didn't like his picture taken.

@DaddyEvil Mostly it's that we forget that, because he's taking all the photos, he doesn't get any of himself. I try to make a point now of getting some of him.

I can't help smiling to myself when I read 'lifestyle village'. It makes me think that there could be lots of villages for all sorts of lifestyles, what would that be like? We would have to keep moving about as our lives change - I guess life is a bit like that anyway. I'm not quite sure whether we're currently in the 'family' village or the 'middle-aged' or even 'retired' village LOL

@oahuwriter It was indeed. Time goes by so fast. We hadn't realised we hadn't seen some of the people for ages.

I celebrated my 60th birthday last weekend. The idea was to go to a restaurant as we always have done as a family for milestone birthdays (extended family as in my siblings). But, with it being Halloween weekend (and it will always be Halloween weekend when you're birthday is on the 30th of October) the restaurants weren't accepting reservations.
My sister called my daughter and suggested they all bring hors d'oeuvres and come to my house. I looked at my daughter and said, "Now I have to clean my house." She said, "It will be clean." If you know my daughters, they do not clean. My older daughter went away for that weekend (that's another story, but she made up for it). The day before the "party" I decided I'd better dust but when I went to do that I found it had been done. My daughter actually dusted! She should tackle her own bedroom!

That's nice that your daughter dusted for you. We've having guests for lunch and I've run the duster over the piano but I should do a bit more. And a happy belated birthday although I might have said it earlier in the post about bungee jumping. Sooner you than me!

@JudyEv We did that on Oct 1st, for a baby shower. It was actually an outdoor picnic, with men and children, too.

That is nice that you had friends already where you live now. Did you purposely move there because they live there? It sounds like the party was a big hit. I can see why you slept in the next morning.
It sounds like it was a long but enjoyable day. I can see why you admire them both.
