Frugal Shopping: Walmart Clearance Finds!

We went to Walmart after I made sure the kids had dinner to get dog food, porcelain glue, and a mop head and while we were there I HAD to check the clearance sections out. I mean I suppose I didn't have to, but I did. Our Walmart has a whole aisle (both sides) of clearance. Sometimes there is a lot of stuff, some times there is barely any good stuff. Tonight there were actually some really good deals. While back there perusing the shelves I found Blue brand training treats. They are regularly priced $4.88 per bag and I got them for $0.50 each. We had talked last night about needing some good training treats to work with the dogs on some more commands. Blue is a great brand, and to save $4.33 on each bag is AMAZING. I got two bags of them because it was such a good deal. So there's a savings of $8.66 on those two items. She child loves bath bombs, I try to pick them up whenever I find a good deal on them. I saw a whole pile of them in the clearance section and they were fun scents and cute shapes. I got a seashell-shaped one and a game controller-shaped one. They were on clearance for $0.50, normally priced at $2.00. So not as good of a deal as the previous clearance score, but still saved $1.50 each on them, or $3.00 total. The kids get up around six thirty in order to get on the bus and get to school. We take them to school sometimes, but most of the time it doesn't work with our schedule. They are supposed to have time for breakfast once they get to school, but they don't always get to. So when I found the single-serve cereal cups for $0.25 each, usually $1.28 each, I knew I needed to stock up on them for breakfast before school. I got 20 of them, Frosted Flaked, Apple Jacks, and Froot Loops. So there would be a little variety. So I got 20 of them for $5.00. They would have been $25.60 without the savings. That's a savings of $21.60. I think I did really well with clearance shopping. I mean, I saved $37.26 on the things I found on clearance. Probably the best I have done in a long time. I also picked up normal stuff like milk, sweet tea, a mop head, some epoxy for the toilet, washcloths, some snacks, and whiteboard markers. But I still only spent around $60. So without the clearance savings, I would of spent almost a hundred bucks. So that is a win in my book. YAY for frugal shopping!

I love clearance sale. You actually get pretty good stuff at an amazing price. I recently stopped going out because I am suffering from health and mental health issues. I just work long hours and I work from home. But whenever I use to go we use to pick up lot of stuffs at clearance sales. I wish I could really go out and spend some money. But we are saving a lot lately. Because me and my husband need to go out for a vacation soon it’s been tough times

Well done. Why do they put up for clearance sale? Are they close to expiration date?

You did find some great deals there. I usually check ours also. But with no kids home anymore I dont find as much. It seems like a lot of ours is toys and kid themed other items.

@thislittlepennyearns my favorite is cinnamon toast crunch but I would have bought a whole bunch of those that you got. Sometimes I enjoy eating them right out of the container as a snack
