The biggest restorations are NOT the most difficult!

I have to head off to Guitar Center now, but I'll try to get this out.
I spent a good part of this morning working on a 2 1/2 inch gouge on the front edge of out of an other wise mint pair of JBL speakers that are worth about $1200 now.. No pressure there. Heh.
I got the gap filled in withe wood filler over the past few days and glued in what will be the "replacement veneer" showing this morning.
My next task is to sand the chunk of wood you see down so it is flush with that side of the speaker without damaging the otherwise perfect surface.
And then oil and try to match the color and shine of the rest of the surface.
Wish me luck!
Do I like to live on the edge? Or what?

Oh, wow! Are you keeping them, or selling them after the restoration?

It's a repair job. pony doesn't own these speakers.... unless he really messes them up.

Already done that. I've been working with this box of veneer for years and have done dozens of JBL speakers over the same time period. But I still do some nuanced color matching, shine matching, and grain matching near the end of and veneer replacement process.

What you do that makes you happy is the measurement of having of life.

@TheHorse A lot of people that I know will never be happy in life since they are blinded by their lack of faith of seeing the good side of life.

Someone obviously trusted you enough to let you do the repair work on their speaker. I'm sure you'll do an excellent job and won't charge enough for the work done on it.
Good luck!

@TheHorse You're always welcome. And yeah, but the enjoyment you get out of doing the restorations counts for a lot, too.
And, the added bonus is that it annoys vanny when she KNOWS you aren't charging enough.
