Cricket is the only sport in which India has some domination. In the world cup t20 though India were demolished by England. The players become super rich witin a couple of years and they become real stars. What does the recent setback imply?

I think this setback taught a hard lesson to every person involved with Indian cricket about our over attachment and empowering of the useless IPL.

@Sojourn The same players who do marvelously well in IPL start failing in T 20 World Cup and other International Multi team events. I believe that we could have played Deepak Chahar or Shardul Thakur instead of Bhuvi. Similarly, Rishabh Pant doesn't looks that good in T 20 now, and instead Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan need to be tried again, even if they are a bit inconsistent. Also, IPL needs to be trimmed rather than expanded. Players from England and other teams often forego IPL for their own health, fitness and their countries' engagements.

@Sojourn A big money in IPL and too much money and even the more established stars could get distracted.

Too much money in sport may take away the real feel.

@banksim Not only IPL, but our strategies are also outdated. If K.L.Rahul and Bhuvi were not performing well, why persist them match after after. And why not try Shikhar Dhawan again in T 20s. Anyways, the T 20 world cup is now gone and time to look forward, and yes, IPL does seem like a big distracting factor for the Indian players, although players like Deepak Chahar, Arshadeep Singh, Axar Patel and more came up through IPL only. And well, if so much chances can be given to Bhuvi and Ashwin, why a player like Shardul Thakur who even played some outstanding knocks vs tough English bowling in 2021 and some good bowling spells not given much chances in T 20. On the other hand, the English team plays with more allround abilities and even the more glamorous and popular players are not given undue leeway.

It could be that your nation is so good at winning cricket matches is that either the talent level in your homeland is spoiled by success and not realize that the opposing nation wants what your nation has which is a championship title.
