I think this horse is part of the Movember movement

I just googled Movember and it seems it’s an international event. It gets a lot of publicity in Australia. The goal of Movember is to ‘change the face of men’s health’, including raising awareness of men’s health issues such as prostate and testicular cancer, and men’s suicide. In case you haven’t heard of it, it involves men growing moustaches during November and raising money through sponsors or whatever. The photo shows a horse with a ‘mo’ or moustache. This isn’t very common but is sometimes seen in heavier, hairier breeds such as Clydesdales and Gypsy Cobs. I have a book about New Forest ponies, a native British breed. It states that a moustache helps the ponies eat the coarse gorse vegetation.

Not familiar with 'Movember' but I've known of this for a few years
No-Shave November Educate about cancer prevention, save lives, and aid those fighting the battle. What is No-Shave November? No—Shave November is a month-Iong journey during which participants forgo shaving and grooming in order to evoke conversation and r

This is the same concept but it seems the proceeds go to cancer rather than men's health in general.

Interesting. Thanks. It seems that there are two movements in November.

@JudyEv This is exactly what I am NOT going to do. My husband beard is hard and it would be worse than living near a spiky cactus.

Maybe Movember hasn't reached Switzerland yet. You could start the movement off in your country. You just need to suggest it to your husband.

@LadyDuck If you let him grow it long enough, it might become softer.

Like GAA, I've heard of No-Shave November and participated in it a few times... but I don't really like facial hair so shave every couple of days, normally.

Vince has had a beard and moustache since the year dot. I don't really mind one way or the other as long as any beard is trimmed a bit.

@DaddyEvil Vince finds it itchy too if he doesn't keep it trimmed.

@wolfgirl569 I wonder if the Belgian Drafts or Percherons have them. They are popular breeds with the Amish I think.

I haven't seen too many either but there are dozens of photos on Pinterest (I think it's Pinterest), mostly of Gypsy Vanners with mos.

I learnt two interesting facts from your post. Movember is celebrated by having a no shave month and, some breeds of horses can have moustache. Well, always liked men with their bushy moustaches but should be hygienic . Horse looks funny with the moustache.

Yeah, Movember happens in Canada, too (or at least it did, not sure if anyone still cares). That extreme closeup looks as if an alien is trying to blend in by wearing a false moustache.

I guess if the mo was a bit thicker and across the whole of the lip it would be more of a protection.

If you didn't tell me its an horse, I would have thought this animal to be an abomination. I finally figured that those large holes are the nostrils of that quadruped . The picture tricked me for a moment.

Thanks for reminding me that November has come! Surprised that no one in replies so far had heard of the term. I find the aftershave effects more itchy.
