So today I checked in to my digit account and it said that I have 25% of my goal meet for saving up for a house. It doesn’t seem like a big deal to some people but for my family it’s an accomplishment to a dream of owning a house one day. Yay!

Congratulations. In my country you can buy a house if you have 20% of it as a down payment. The rest is mortgage. Some people buy houses that they can remodel and that is cheaper.

20% would mean for most people 30 years mortgage or more. I live I the US so I wouldn’t put anything down at 20 or 25%. 50% or more to put down means less time on mortgage plus it makes your payment amount small. Plus depending on where you are looking that will change how much you’re going to pay.
