I am one of those people who have kept a lot of stuff from when my children were little. While I was cleaning out the spare room I was going through this big chest of toys that I kept. They brought back so many wonderful memories from when my children were young. Every toy I remember where they got it and what occasion it was.
Over the years when I would give one of the toys to my grandchildren that their mom or Dad use to play with, my growth children would always say, "mom I can't believe you kept that stuff." They are both the type to throw things away when they are done with them. They don't keep anything so I guess that is why I still have some stuff and never gave it to them because I knew it would end up in the garbage once their kids were done with it.
Just out of curiosity I went online to look up some of the toys and I was amazed what some of them were going for on e-bay. I would never sell them but it just surprised of some would consider junk is actually worh quite a bit.
Do you hang on to stuff too or do you throw it away when you are done with it?

Somethings are just priceless. when you look back on some items that you kept they bring back great memories, I would not let them go either.
I get attached to a lot of things most of which got thrown away behind my back. However I do have sentimental items that are locked away, so I can relate.

Sorry that things get thrown out on you. I would be upset if somebody threw my stuff out.

I used to hang onto old toys, even when my kids were all grown up. Now, I don't have anything they used to place a high value on. The Barbie Doll I bought years ago for myself, is worth thousands of dollars! I gave it away when I was 13 years old.

@Happy2BeMe I kept a couple of Sesame Street toys from our son's first year and they actually frightened his babies. They cried so loud.

I have a hard time giving them away because they have so much sentimental value for me.

Until Pretty and I moved four years ago into this house, I still had boxes of toys that were mine when I was a kid and, of course, I still had boxes of toys from when Pretty was little. But, she throws things away and she was the one sorting through our belongings to see what was going to move here with us. I saw some of our toys in the boxes for donation for the local thrift store and some in the throw away boxes. I didn't say anything. There was a reason she was the one sorting everything instead of me. (This house is half the size of the one we moved from and doesn't really have the room for the things we did keep. *shrug* The garage here is over half full of stuff she thought we should keep.)

@Happy2BeMe We weren't ready to downsize or even move from the house we were in. And then the only house we could find was half the size we wanted/needed. It sucks!

sometimes you have to downsize. I went from a 5 bedroom house to a 2 bedroom apartment which is about the size of one floor of my house so now every closet it packed full.

I hang on to it. Yeah. People give good money for old things. I like vintage clothes, and they aren't cheap.

I tend to keep sentimental things too. My brother is the exact opposite. He says things like: "Why the heck are you keeping this?"

My husband is a huge pac rat. He's trying to get a little better about it. But, we have his office, which we effectively call our pod, because it has become a catch all room.

Awww nice. I loved those. My daughter had them too but for some reason they are not among the other toys I have. She must have taken them home for her daughter when she was little.
