Are you afraid of the recession?

I got a news report today morning that my company will be laying off employees starting this week. There is a Great Recession coming up in the US once again. And many companies are laying off their employees. My sister’s company laid off two employees yesterday without any prior notice. I am afraid of losing the job because currently my husband is jobless already and it’s on me at the moment. I don’t get lot of salary I can o my pay our rent and buy some vegetables and pay bills and that’s the end of my salary. I am hoping I don’t get pushed out. Because otherwise it will be getting difficult.

@Archie0 Covid first and the Russia/Ukraine war later have done a lot of damages to the economy.

Anna, it's not just one or two countries, either. It's all over the world. We just THINK it's been bad already. I still remember the stories my grandparent's told me...we all need to live close, not waste anything, and try (I say try, because this is the hardest one) to not spend every dime if we can avoid it. Problem with that is so many don't have enough right now to spend even on basic needs. A friend of mine had to take her son and his family in, as his job was eliminated recently. They can't make it on one paycheck. Times are hard and I fear they could get worse.

It is like a cyclic event that over a century ago your country got into it too. I hope that it won't get worse like it was before. I hope that your country has learned a lot from what they experience before so they can avoid getting into it again.

I hope you keep your job. My husband and I are retired and our house is paid off. We do need to pay taxes and utilities but are in pretty good shape.

I am glad you don’t have to fear of job loss. How do you manage your days? The savings or pension?

We experienced recession recently and many of my Filipino colleagues were terminated already partly because of Saudization and other very serious reasons. I hope you keep your job. I believe finding a job is very difficult recently.

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm not afraid of losing my job, but I am worried that things are going to become very expensive soon.

@Archie0 I hope you will be able to keep your job. It is so sad when they start to lay people off and they do not have another job lined up or someone at home is out of work too. I hope they did not say anything to you or will they? Will they just lay people off? I know during the corona so many lost their jobs. Can you find things to do online to make sure you have an income coming in so can pay the rent and get things and pay bills?

Work hard, show yr boss that you are worth it. Boss prefer employees who can do 2 person job. All bosses are the aame. If you slack in your job, you will be one of them being kick off.

You’re right. I work hard trust me but I am still not doing good at work. I’m at the bottom. Maybe I am not smart. But I still pray my job stays.
