With friendship, I think it's more about quality than quantity. It's good enough to have a few good friends that I love, trust and have a deep meaningful connection. I have many friends and acquaintances. Those can be my ex-colleagues, singing group friends. For close friends, I have three. We share our feelings, celebrate good times and support each other in bad times.
Friendship needs to be maintained. To me, support, trust, and honesty are of paramount importance. Always keep in touch and show care. Don't breach confidentiality, offer advice upon request.
Do you have any close friends? How do you maintain friendship?

Stay in touch on the net is also okay. No need to see each other very often. Good friends understand.

Friendships are important. Everyone needs them. I have one very good friend I see every week and talk to often on the phone. I have a couple of good friends I've made here and also talk or message a couple of times a month. I have many acquaintances I also call friends.

@Beestring I absolutely agree with everything you said. It's much better to have a few really good friends rather than a lot of not so good friends.
I have a small group of friends who I trust. I used to have a lot more friends in high school but they weren't all genuine people.

I am not so sure I maintain any friendship with anyone at all. For the last 6 decades, friends or relatives would suddenly send me a message, 'hey, are you there...? - and we would catch up with each other from there.
Sometime we wouldn't contact each other for 2-3 decades but the reunions were always good.

I also have many friends living overseas. We communicate via Whatsapp or talk on Skype once in a while.

Friendship is quite important. I also have a few good and close friends. Sometimes we don't really need to contact each other more often. But once we do, we can still chat as usual as before and I think this is the real friendship since the time can't make us further

You are right. I have a few friends but all are really good friends. We seldom visit one another due to our busy activities. We trust on messages we make. It feels that we are close to one another.

Friendship happens in all walks of life and it stays if there is sufficient interest to stick.

My grandmothers both taught me a lot about friendship. One saying has always stuck with me--to have a friend, you have to be one. And that is true. Friendships are give and take, they help us through the hard times and celebrate the good ones with us. I have several very close friends, and I truly do treasure them.
