Don't Let The Old Man In

I read a post by CarolDM about Banana Bread she gave to an old man to cheer him up and reading the comments reminded me of a song I listen to every time I start pondering on being 84 years old. If you ever feel like I do today, bring up YouTube and search for Don't Let The Old Man In - Toby Keith
I have already outlived both my younger siblings, my parents, grandparents and more close friends than I can count, but this song brings me back to pondering why I am here and who can I help next.
Helping even one person gives me a warm glow for several days and since most of the people I help these days are on the Internet, it inspires me to open my Browser and look for more. That helps me live another day, try it and see if it helps you too.

Yes, it's good to extend a helping hand to people who need it. May your tribe increase. I try to do a good deed every day, but I don't purposely seek it. Sometimes I even ignore people on the street who are begging for help. This is because it is against our rules to give to them on certain circumstances because it could endanger them and other people . But you should continue doing good to people. I know I have to do this as well.

My body gets older by the second but my inner self doesn´t. I just wish I had better knees, better fingers, better eyes. But I don´t feel that I need to be cheered up. Most of the days my glass is half full and not half empty.

Thank you so much for the mention. This song gives me chills. I first heard it while watching a Clint Eastwood movie (The Mule). What a moving song. And many other artists have performed it as well. You have lost many. I am sorry. You still have a purpose here. Helping others is a big deal. Never underestimate doing just that. You have made my day. Good for you is all I can say right now. Tears to hear this song. But in a good way. Music is powerful for me.

I agree with you Carol and thanks for adding the link to the video. I didn't see a way to do that.

@StartFlatBoke You are very welcome. As for the links, just add to the bottom of your post. But you can’t add links and the photo at the same time. I add photos then go back and edit to add the links.

Helping others is certainly heart-warming for ourselves. We help out where we can.
