Twelve in a Row

Today, before lunch, I passed the 50,000-word mark on my 2022 NaNoWriMo project and entered the Winners' Circle. This is the 12th year in a row I have reached this milestone. 4 of these projects have gone on to become published novels. Some have been shelved indefinitely. Others are being published in serial form on Kindle Vella. This is the earliest I have ever finished my project. Now, I don't have to push for the last week of November trying to make my goal. Did anyone else tackle the NaNoWriMo Challenge this year?

@DWDavis I'm an amateur writer, but have never had any training or experience. I write short discussions on a writing site, which I really enjoy. I don't earn very much, which isn't an issue.

@kobesbuddy Becoming a writer was something I dreamed about since the 7th grade when my language arts teacher told me she thought I had a real talent for creating interesting stories.

I've never tried it but I think Valerie might have some years. Congratulations. Twelve years in a row is a great effort.

It is challenging. In the years since I started, a lot of participants have started online writing groups and mini-challenges to motivate each other during the month. These helped me quite a bit this year.

Well done for completing that. I've never participated. It's taken me several years to write less than half that for my own project so I don't think I'd ever manage 50,000 words in a month I've never been great with stories anyway - I've done a couple of very short ones but I mainly write poetry and factual articles. I don't have the attention span for anything longer! Good luck with your entry.

In 2011, I joined it on a whim just to see how far I could get. No one was more surprised than I was when I made it to the Winners' Circle that year. I look forward to it every year.

Congratulations, that's a tough task, I wanted to but my vocabulary is rusty and I don't have the inspiration. I hope your novel gets published too. More writing power to you.

Oh well done! No I have never done anything like that. My only foray into writing was a course of evening classes on short story writing about 20-odd years ago. I'm impressed you managed to write so many and get a good proportion published!
