Yesterday. Saturday. Busy and mellow. Mellow and busy. I drove sister and I through some interesting traffic to the gym. My oh my that kiddo pool water was this side of hot. Yum. Nobody in the pool. Two and a half feet of water was plenty for her to float in, me to move my joints in, us to play a silly volleyball game with a kiddo ball. We also put in some time watching The Homecoming movie, the pilot for the Waltons. Later we watched Prancer. Sister didn't remember watching either movie. Old fashioned pathos in both. Mystical magic in Prancer. We had chopped and poured honey and apple juice onto fruitcake innards Friday night so Saturday afternoon we went through the long process of making fruitcakes. Gather the dry, the whole wheat flour, spices, gather it into a bowl. Cream butter and a little honey and molasses then eggs and yes, grape jam and mash it all together, readying it all for the fruit-nut mixture. Glistening and lovely. Then the fun of buttering pans and buttering waxed paper. Fun to do together. Hubby spent the day sleeping but in the evening was up. He had some saucy chili beans and some canned pears. He bound more Yule Tales. We all went to bed late and this morning got up to walk to the furtherest corner of the property with the pups. We scissored off big gobbets of red berries from a tall holly bush-tree. It's been a more than welcome unusual set of days for me. I am grateful. Sister had a good time laughing at the fella that is in my photo. He's quite the handsome guy.
