Put our Christmas tree up

Since we're planning to go to our daughter's for Christmas, we're not doing a lot of decorating here. But it just doesn't seem right not to have a Christmas tree up. We bought a little bit smaller one last year, but bought an even smaller one (6 feet) today that won't take up a lot of room. Dale got the lights on and I hope to decorate it tomorrow. I'll just use my favorite ornaments. I asked our granddaughter Kristin who got married in May what she and David might like for Christmas. She said she'd love some ornaments for their tree, so I've ordered some that I hope they'll like. One of them is an ornament that will hold a photo of her Maltipoo Winnie. Another one is two people in front of a fire pit with my and Dale's names on them and Merry Christmas 2022 on the fire pit. They know we love sitting out back in our love shack, lol, and watching a fire. Kristin and David don't need anything, so I was glad to get a suggestion for their gift. Now if I could just come up with an idea for Dale. We're not wealthy by any means, but we're blessed to have what we need and pretty much all we want. He's not particular, he just doesn't need anything. Same with me. But we have to have gifts to unwrap other than what the kids give us, so I'll think of something. Time for bed, have a good night or day, wherever you are. Love y'all.

Also the dog of my niece was called Winnie, a Golden Retriever. I will decorate the house at the end of this week. We will spend Christmas at home with my husband and I like to decorate. I have to remove a few things that are in front of the fireplace, because I intend to burn some logs for Christmas. We decided to stop the presents tradition years ago, we need nothing and it was more a burden to think what to buy than a pleasure.

I sure understand. If it weren't for the children, we might buy each other just one gift.

When I think back to that very first Christmas after we were married, I have to blush with happiness. I cannot remember a single thing that I gave to my hubs, but I do remember that he spent a pile of money on me and bought all of the most inappropriate gifts a wife would ever want. But, 34 Christmas' later and we are still clinging tightly to each other. But that first year was like magic.

@1creekgirl That is a precious memory. We stayed in our first New year's and our son was born 9 months later.

That's such a wonderful Christmas memory! Our first married Christmas was after Dale came back from being deployed to Alaska for six months. We both arrived back in Hawaii the first of December and our first child, our son Robert was born nine months later.

Those ornaments sound like a perfect gift. I'm sure you'll come up with a good idea for Dale. I'm at that stage in life too where I really don't need anything either.

I have my tree up too. It is pre lit, and has a garland on it, but I haven't put any ornaments on yet I am sure you will think of something meanigful to give to each other.

You last statement about having to have gifts to unwrap resonates strongly with me. We don't need anything either but you can't just let Christmas go by without a gift.

You are right! We open gifts together with whichever kids can be here on Christmas morning so we have to have presents to unwrap.

Cute picture. Does Dale like any kind of treat? Nuts, candy, a gift card to his favorite restaurant? Usually things to eat make a good gift for someone who doesn't need anything. The ornaments that you bought sound really special. Hope you and Dale have a good week.

Have a good Christmas celebration with family! I know living in a tight budget is, so I heard to Daiso, or in the mainland dollar store, for gifts. I believe, even if people say nothing for this year, everyone wants a gift. But only if you can afford it. But it's up to you, just me, chattering. I'm starting decorating for Christmas in December. Nothing fancy, no tree though, can't afford it.
