It is time. I have started making my little trees for this year.

The guys at the Christmas tree place recognized me. They are from Oregon, and I enjoy chatting with them. They set up every year in the parking lot of Sun Valley Mall, only a couple of miles from my house. I have already made a few trees and brought back five to the Christmas tree place. I have six now on my front railing and will bring back three to the Christmas tree place as I collect more disks and sprigs. I'll attach a picture of my little trees that I took a couple of years ago. I bring them to Christmas parties and give them away to friends. When I worked at the mother-and-child drug rehab, I'd make a tree for each child in the program. My Holiday season wouldn't be complete without making little guys. Feel free to ask about the process. My top secret method is not so top secret.

No, they'll turn brown. But it takes a month or two.

@Rimps85 They will. Like all living things. But they were headed for the dumpster. I wonder if their little plant cells realize at some level that they are bringing other living beings pleasure.

Each child gets their own Christmas tree at the rehab program... that's so sweet and thoughtful. Do these grow well?

They last about a month. Their growing days were done when the trees they come from were harvested.

@arunima25 One CAN do that with our succulents here. But not with pine trees.

@TheHorse Oh! I see. I thought that they could be replanted into bigger pots and ground and would grow well there. You would be busy with making so many of them to gift away.

@TheHorse ........I wrote a craft article about how to make one. Soon after that I saw one of your posts about making them. This was several years ago.

Each one takes about four minutes to make, once I have the materials. They make young children happy. And adults too.

Life is good when it is not a "zero sum" game. Each tree takes abut four minutes to make, once I have the materials. The amount of joy one can bring...priceless.

I have always loved those little trees you make. This year with three cats I won't even be able to put up my little fake tree,

Heh. When I hammer in the holes for the sprigs, I do so at a 30 degree angle (learning toward the back). Else the trees will look like droopy little Charlie Brown trees.

Nice. My Mom, when alive, always went to Safeway, getting branches... home was pleasant Christmas tree scent. Two years ago, I bought spray evergreen can, still got it. Soon spraying it. Nice little trees. Great gifts! (Especially now trees astronomical price.)

It is fun to have a personal tradition that is unique to you. I collect stars, but I leave them up all year. You know "the stars in the heavens looked down where He lay". I read in a book that stars are a tradition in my husband's Finlander heritage.
