That time of year

With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season upon us, it's a timely reminder to all that just because we are busy we should not forget those who are alone this time of year.
Holidays are a great time to get together with loved ones and people we haven't had time to catch up with throughout the rest of the year,
Whether it be the little old lady or man up the street or a family member we have become estranged from over the years.
The little old lady up the street is living all alone in her house and the contact with people she gets is with the nurse who checks on her each day to make sure she is still alive.
Her husband has passed away and her kids all live miles away to make the trip to see her on a regular basis.
When we came into the world as children we came into the human family and despite the fact we don't all live under the same roof or even in the same country we are by all definitions family.
That grumpy old man who lives on the corner scares the kids every time they pass by his house, he is your distant cousin or great uncles brothers cousin.
We all are a part of the human family and we should look out for one another even if we don't think we should.
If you are driving home and you see someone carrying a load of shopping if you are in no hurry to be somewhere stop and offer some kind of help. they are family even distant family.
You live in an apartment building and you hear a baby crying and a mother sounding stressed out barely getting by, Don't close off those ears, use them in the way they were intended to answer the call for help.
Go knock on that mother's door and say I heard your baby crying, can I hold her while you go take a shower or put some dinner in the oven.
Yes, we are a busy world but we always have time when someone needs help.
This holiday season remembers the reason for the season and knows that true love comes from the heart, not in some wrapped-up gift from a store.
Provide some kind of service this holiday season, lend a hand, or lend a listening ear to give someone some comfort this holiday season.
Have extra food at the Christmas table this year?
Invite Mrs. Smith to join you and your family for the holiday celebration.
Love is the greatest gift you can give and most often than not it costs nothing.
Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Honikah, happy Quanza, and happy winter solstice

You've made quite a few good points here, sometimes it slips our minds that there's someone all alone that might be grateful for a simple hello how are you from someone.

That is right! And I do Genealogy and we are all related somehow. We all came from Adam and Eve.

That's a beautiful post .
These gestures were so common in the society when we grew up. It was the true Indian culture and we found it the natural way to live and it was not confined to festivals. Sharing and caring was a part of life. But then the fast paced digital world made each one alienated and distant.
