The other day I mentioned I got a CrockPot. When I came home I scrubbed some taters and threw them in there and covered them with low-fat, low-sodium chicken broth. After dinner I puréed the results and I now have homemade potato soup!! I was looking through my instruction book, and I noticed this. I guess we can file this under “you had ONE JOB to do.” Yes, that’s a recipe for “Lemon Herb Roasted Chicken.” No, the ingredient list doesn’t include any chicken; rather, beef chuck pot roast! I don’t know, maybe whoever wrote the recipe out is a fan of Warren Zevon, who “rubbed the pot roast all over his chest” in the song “Excitable Boy.” And that just goes to show you that anything can trigger a song in my silly head! Hope y’all have a great evening/morning/whatever it is wherever you are! Here’s the referenced Zevon song:

As soon as I looked at your photo I was checking the recipe for “Lemon Herb Roasted Chicken.” Where is the chicken in this recipe??? This should be like the Italian recipe "uccelletti scappati" (escaped little birds). There are no birds in the recipe.

“Oh, they won’t notice that we substituted beef roast for chicken.” Uccelletti scappati. Yep, this recipe is that!

@FourWalls I remembered after that there is also a "tarfuto scappato" (escaped truffle), no truffle at all.

I don´t have a crock pot. But I have a pressure cooker and a Dutch oven. I think that it is more than enough.

@FourWalls I use the pressure cooker to cook legumes and some meat that is not tender. But I add the rest of the ingredients later. I cooke a whole kilo of legumes (around 2 pounds) in the pressure cooker with no salt until they are tender (10 minutes) and they freeze them until I need them.

I remember my mom using a pressure cooker. I didn’t care that much for what came out of it when i was little, so i never pursued it as an adult.

It sounds good anyways. I would leave the celery out.

Celery has no flavor as far as I’m concerned. I like that Facebook member that says something like “Celery: when I have the urge to chew on stringy water.”

@FourWalls Its the smell of it cooking for me. I do like celery to snack on at times. Just not cooked.

That's funny. Somebody certainly had beef and not chicken on their mind and apparently the proof readers (I am assuming they use them) too. Made some delicious barbeque in ours for dinner today.

This is proof that editors need good wages and benefits, otherwise you end up with beef pot roast lemon chicken.

I’m thinking that, in actuality, both would be pretty good. I think this would work better for the chicken, though.

perhaps you need to buy a pot roast and turn it into a chicken. Just cannot tell you how to do that,

We've seen this before too. The ingredients call for something quite special - a unique part of the recipe but then doesn't mention it again so you have no idea when you're supposed to add it. So what did you do?

Oh, I didn’t make this. I started simple, potato soup. I wouldn’t mind trying this chicken recipe.
