I was astonished to know how much it would cost us just to have our two, 5 months old kitten to be fixed. I mean why costing us $ 550.00 ? So I have been told that I could go through the SPCA. Which I am not sure about, because we did not get our kittens from them.
So lets think a minute here.

@beenice2 There is a program in your area for those who cannot afford high vet costs. Have you checked this organization?

It is a shame that getting a kitten fixed is getting to cost and an arm and a leg figuratively speaking.

@beenice2 It is inflation that is causing the high prices.

The SPCA and organizations like it, often offer vouchers or aide to get an animal fixed. Five months, while young, is a bit late and cutting it close to get cats fixed. And the higher the risk (especially if one is female) the more it costs. Organizations like this, exist to prevent things like abandoned kittens due to people unable to get their pets fixed and so on. It doesn't matter if you rescued them off the street, got them from a friend, or bought them from a rescue or shelter. Look into it, it could save you some huge bucks.

I do wish I had pets, but honestly, I could not afford the prices around here for vets...it is insanity and as much as peoples care as well.
