Hi guys,
Hope all of you are doing good. I am doing well too.
Today, 7th December is celebrated as " National Cotton Candy Day" in USA and other countries.
The invention of Cotton Candy dates back to 19th century Europe as it was form of Spun Sugar which was considered as precious as Gold.
Back then, it was hand spun and was considered a treat enjoyed by the Elite. It was a extensive labourous thing as was done by hand.
The cotton candy machine was founded by John Wharton and a dentist friend named William Morrison in 1897. It was presented in 1904's World Fair. "The longest cotton candy stretch over 1,400 meters." It was created in July 2009.
The cotton candy is known by different names in different places. In France, it's known as "Barbe a Papa". It means Papa's Beard.
In Netherlands, it's known as "Suikerspin" meaning Sugar Spider. In Finland and Australia, it's known as "Fairy Floss". In UK, it's called " Candy Floss" rather than Cotton Candy.
In India it's called "An old Lady 's Hair". It's fascinating how one single item which is so popular is referred in different names.
Cotton Candy is easily available now in Fairs, in Malls, in Streets etc. It comes in different colours too.
I like the traditional pink colour of Cotton Candy. I enjoy it occassionally, not frequent though. Let me know do you guys enjoy cotton candy and share your experiences or memories here. Have a good day!! Take care!!

@Rashnag I can’t remember either. Probably at least 25 years.

I had not known it was this day at all.
I adore that stuff and have not had any for years now since at the lovely sea side.
