Christmas and other holidays and the trash we have to deal with

More trash and consumption occur during Christmas than any other holiday. Over Christmas, waste production in North America rises by 25%, adding an additional 25 million tons of trash to landfills. The necessity to take action is made clear by realizing the huge waste that is produced. A present that is actually useful or environmentally friendly is a superior choice.
So, in your own special way, how do you reduce waste in your household, especially during the holidays?

In my home, we try not to purchase Christmas trees and items we do not need.

Exactly. As I have been seeing, when people buy a lot of things, they don't need which they realize after they bought them, they either throw them away, give them away and the last option is just return it to the store. Waste of gas and time as well as money being in line to return the item or items.
I like what you and your family are doing in your household.

You're lucky to have a grandmother like your grandmother, a wise woman I would say.
