Bye Murf Burf

Pets are hard sometimes. I mean, the hardest part is that we always have to one day say our goodbyes to them. We mostly always outlive them. Yet, at the same time they bring us such great joy and love us unconditionally. We are as much a part of their world as they are ours.
It makes the goodbyes that much harder.
My mom had to put down her Murphy last night—who we affectionately sometimes called Murf Burf—after 16-years together. My wife and I were with her and Murphy on their final journey.
He was always a hoot and a joy to have around. We always enjoyed our visits with him. He was a good dog, plain and simple and he will be greatly missed.
He will likely be buried in our backyard next to our cats Sneaky and Theus so he can be visited often.
RIP Murphy. We love you.

I was just talking with my neighbor last night about her dog, whom she’s had for 14 years. He was just diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer and has only a few months to live. She was in tears at the thought of having to part with such an important part of her family.

That is the sad part of having pets. We have gone through it several times. We lost the last of our pet dogs Preiti 3 years ago - She lived for 12 years leaving behind happy memories.
I am sure Murphy will be remembered forever.

@porwest As long as their paws are not sticking out of the graves.

That's so sad to hear and I'm sure Murf will be missed. 16 years was a long time to enjoy his companionship.
I still miss our Gizmo that we had to put to sleep in July.
