Christmas pudding

It is not just a pudding The original Christmas pudding takes days. A few years ago when I was living in the city where most of my family lived I used to have parties for the family at our house. One year I decided to make a pudding but never dared to follow the recipe for this particular pudding
I had all the ingredient and it turned out nice. I steamed it. I did not place any objects inside the pudding as is the tradition but wrote down wishes on slips of paper and placed them round it.
We all stood around the table in a circle and sang the carols moving around and each guest picked the paper slip that had a wish. They read out the wishes. And before the 'ceremony' began I poured brandy over the pudding and lit it It gave out a blue flame.
A great memory. Any memories to share?

Fruit cake is also something that one makes during Christmas time. I am fine with my date and walnut cake.

@allknowing As I am a Milanese, I want the Panettone for Christmas and not a commercial one.

Quite memorable isn't it? You're ingenious to be able to think of such unique activity. I'm thinking of getting members of the family to have a raffle for the person they will give a gift to. But it seems it's not feasible because not all may be able to come for Christmas.

Real Christmas pudding and fun! Nice. Memory lane visits, when older, kits of memory lane visits...we were young, best home chefs foods on table, everyone gathered and broiling fresh oysters on hibachi...a happy family enjoying being together catching up. Though this memory is over 50 years ago, seems like last year!

It can never be the same. Right?. The Christmas spirit then and now is not the same. I get joy having those parties for the kids and seniors. This year I will be having it at my school where the nuns will bring some poor kids who are studying there.

Oh my I absolutely adore these Christmas Puddings ..of course from living in England so many years. I too had them but never actually made them. Also I used to love the brandy sauce to go with
You accomplished something alright to make this!!! And even flame the brandy! Great job.
Yes the little surprise inside I recall so fondly..when my son was a child in England.
