Hello everyone!

I discovered myLot by accident whilst floating my way through the ether of the Internet. I've had a good look around and so far I like what I see - a community of ordinary people from many places who share their thoughts, emotions and experiences. I'm not new to writing online but my work is usually to do with my home country of Scotland. This time I look forward to sharing my thoughts on all sorts of things and reading the thoughts of others. I think I have a handle of how this site works but do you have any tips I might find useful?

Other than going here to this section. Welcome and enjoy the site.
This is where you will find out what kinds of behavior are accepted and unaccepted on myLot. When in doubt, remember the Golden Rule!

Just be yourself. Feel free to look around. Chances are there might be something you've considered writing about, only for someone else to beat you to it. In which case you could help them out by contributing to their discussion.

Just keep writing some interesting discussions and replying to those that you find interesting and you'll most likely find it can be fun. Often there are those who enjoy a good natured banter of sorts and I call those threads because sometimes more than 2 people end up exchanging comments and such. I hope you'll have fun here.

Welcome to mylot. I hope you enjoy it here. There are people from all over the world, we can all learn from each other. I don't really have any tips except to say don't be hesitant in interacting with others. That's what mylot is all about.

I've already realised that this site is more or less worldwide - at least amongst those who speak English. I look forward to mixing it up a little with different posts

I see you've been sign-posted to the important pages already (Guidelines and Help). Other than that, my advice is to have a good look around, make friends (you can follow people - there's a button on profiles for that). You'll get to know the site and the people as you spend more time here. Enjoy yourself, and welcome to myLot.

No tips, sorry. But my hand is up. See it? Please talk to me about Edinburgh. A huge, gigantic, enormous goal of my hubbys and me is to get to Scotland in about three years. We're into seaports and historic downtowns and history and give us a ghost story and we're happy. Please tell me more?

Welcome. Been here for seven years and on other sites earlier for a sum total of 12 plus years. myLot is a survivor as others flattered only to deceive in the end. I share what I have a passion for, mostly about life in general.

@Albain Great, I like to read about different countries and cultures. Been to the UK, but could not make it to Scotland. Sean Connery and Alex Ferguson come to mind when Scotland is mentioned for me!

Hello and welcome! Not sure about tips - just write about anything that comes into your head and do it for the sake of having a chat, there are friendly people here; if you think you're going to make money from it you are deluded As you are an experienced online writer you probably don't need this, but one of the most useful pieces of advice I was given was to write everything in Word (or another program of your choice) first, then copy and paste your discussion, and then once you've posted it copy the URL and save it with your text. That way if something goes wrong when you're part-way through writing something, you don't have to start all over again, and if you can't remember whether you've written about a subject before, you can easily look it up (tags are also useful for this, and for grouping together posts on related subjects). Hope you will enjoy popping in! Out of interest, where else do you write, if you don't mind sharing that?
