A large iguana is being blamed for a power outage during the daytime hours on Wednesday in the city of Lake Worth Beach Florida after the animal managed to enter a substation and mess around with the electrical system that causes the power outage.
Electrical crews of the Lake Worth Beach Electrical Utility went to take care of the blackout in the city which lasted for a few hours before electrical power was restored before nightfall.
What happened to the iguana who entered the substation is not known if he is still alive or deceased.

I have heard of squirrels causing blackouts but never an iguana. I think the iguana is still alive since his tail hit something inside the station that caused the blackout.

Iguanas are a major problem in Florida; and there are companies hired to kill as many iguanas as possible. They were introduced into Florida just like the pythons were and have become a menace.

I have heard that the problem with iguanas in Florida is being called an invasion since iguanas came from South and Central America to the U S in the last few decades.
